Obituary: John Jack Donnahoo Inman John Jackson Jack Donnahoo, 90, of 139 Inn View Drive Inman, passed away , 20th, at Regional Hospice in Spartanburg. Jack was born in Inman on 3, 1924, a son of the late William M. and Minnie Lee Gowan Donnahoo and was the widower of Cora Jeannette Rhodes Donnahoo. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Sanctuary School Class. Jack was also a member of American Legion Post #45 in Inman and a lifetime member of Inman Masonic Lodge # 201. He honorably served our country in the US Army during WWII receiving the EAMET Campaign Medal with 5 bronze stars after serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe as a radar technician with the D 555th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion. he completed school, with perfect attendance, and fulfilled his military obligation, Jack began working at Inman Mills; which allowed him, as a member of The 4th Street Gang, to play baseball in the textile league. He later worked and retired from International Wire in Inman. Jack is survived by a daughter, Jan, wife of Frankie Nodine, of Inman; a son, Jackie Donnahoo, of Inman, one granddaughter; Angie Davis and her husband Dave of Inman, and two great grandchildren; Hannah McAntyre and Luke Davis, both of Inman. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother; Bill Donahoo. services will be held , 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at Seawright conducted by Rev. Henry Stanford. Private entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Obituary: Ellen Cabaniss Jones Donkle Passed from this life to the next on 16th after a three and a half year battle with cancer. Ellen suffered illness without complaint or defeat. She was at home, at peace with her family. Ms. Ellen, as she was known through over 30 years of teaching, coaching and counseling, helped innumerable young people lead fuller lives through athletics and college admissions. In each community she served, Ellen developed friendships with all sorts and conditions of people, finding the value of each and sharing her enthusiasm for life, passion for athletics and generous good humor. Her Christian Faith was rarely expressed in words but contagious in the way she offered gracious affection to her students, colleagues and friends. Born 20, 1955, in Charleston, S.C., Ellen lived in Clinton, S.C. for the first 10 years of her life where her father, the late Dr. Newton Bond Jones, was head of the history department at Presbyterian and her mother, the late Catherine Wing Jones, taught in the Clinton Public Schools. She was baptized at All Saints Episcopal Church in Clinton. In 1965, the family moved to Greenville, S.C. where Dr. Jones taught at Furman University and Mrs. Jones at Christ Church Episcopal School. Ellen was confirmed at Christ Church (Episcopal) and attended C.C.E.S. until her graduation in 1974. She was an honor student, student body officer and a member of the varsity cheerleading squad, the varsity field hockey team and the varsity basketball team. Ellen attended Converse for two years participating in field hockey, basketball and synchronized swimming, all at the varsity level. In 1976 she transferred to Furman University to pursue her passion for health and physical education and continue her career in NCAA field hockey. She graduated in 1978 and returned in 1979, earning her Masters degree in 1981. In 1980, Ellen married Isaac Langston Donkle, III. The couple led the Episcopal Youth Group at Christ Church and taught school together. have been blessed with three daughters: Catherine Crews Donkle, Jean McSween Donkle LaBruce (Richardson) and Ellen Cabaniss Sister Donkle. Mrs. Donkle was a member of the Charlotte, N.C. Junior League then the Greenville Junior League. She taught and coached at Christ Church Episcopal School from 1981-1985, 1986-2001 and took student athletes to Europe for two summers as a chaperone and coach for the U.S. Olympic Field Hockey Futures teams. moving with her family to Pawleys Island, S.C. in 2001, Ellen continued her career as a coach and counselor at Waccamaw High School before taking a position at the Low Country Day School. During her years at Low country, she had the opportunity to work with students from grades K-12 as the Athletic Director, Registrar and Guidance Counselor. Services will be held at 4 PM 18th 2013 at Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church in Pawleys Island. Inurnment will be in Christ Churchyard, Greenville, S.C. at 1 PM. The Reverend Wil Keith will lead both services, assisted in Greenville by the Reverend Dr. Allen Crews McSween. |

Obituary: Dr. Herbert H. Dongell - Central, SC Rev. Dr. Herbert Henry Dongell, 88, of 232 Nicholson Drive, passed away on 23, 2008 at his home. Born in Bakerton, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph Andrew and Catherine Martin Dongell. Dr. Dongell received the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Houghton 1946, Ordination in The Wesleyan Church 1946, Bachelor of Theology, United Wesleyan 1949, Master of Arts in Greek, Lehigh University 1951, Master of Arts in Religion, Temple University 1969, Doctor of Theology, Trinity Theological Seminary 1979 and Doctor of Divinity, United Wesleyan 1988. He taught at United Wesleyan , Allentown, PA 1946-1968, Central Wesleyan , Central, SC 1968-1990, CWC Adjunct Professor in LEAP Program 1990-1995. (CWC is now Southern Wesleyan University) He served as pastor at Soldier Wesleyan Methodist Church, Soldier, PA 1946, Lambertville Wesleyan Methodist Church, Lambertville, NJ 1948--1956, Trainer Wesleyan Church, Chester, PA 1956-1968, Mitchell Memorial Wesleyan Church, Spartanburg, SC 1969-1970, Clemson Wesleyan Church, Clemson, SC (supply) 1973-1974, Central First Wesleyan Church, Central, SC 1976-1978, Walhalla Wesleyan Church 1979-1992, and Cateechee Wesleyan Church 1992-2003. Mr. Dongell is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia May Swauger Dongell of the home; two sons, Joseph Robert Dongell and wife Regina of Wilmore, KY, Peter Herbert Dongell and wife Elaine of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Evangeline Linny Lois Dongell Ledbetter and husband Don of Seneca, Kathleen May Dongell Benoit and husband Pierre of Scottsdale, AZ; and seven grandchildren, Kelleigh Dawn Ledbetter, Kenton David Ledbetter, Bradley Hansen Carr, Jordan Robert Dongell, Janna Marie Dongell, Josiah Konstantine Dongell, and Evangelina Rosette Dongell.
