Obituary: Frank Heinsohn, Jr., DDS, 79, of Folly Beach, SC, husband of Peggy Needham Heinsohn, passed away peacefully in his sleep , 14, 2015. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service in Grace Episcopal Church, 98 Wentworth Street, , 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Bethany . The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Dr. Heinsohn was born in Charleston, SC on St. Patricks Day in 1935; he was the son of the late Frank Heinsohn, Sr. and Lottie Mappus Heinsohn. He attended Rivers High School in Charleston and then spent two years at The Citadel. He transferred to Dental School at UNC Chapel Hill. While playing cornet in the UNC marching band, he met a sassy, redheaded drummer, who later became his best friend and wife, Peggy Needham. married and moved to Ft. Devons in Massachusetts, where he was a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. later moved back to Charleston, where Frank was devoted to his wife and children, and his dental practice, dental assistants and patients of 46 years. A move to Folly Beach in 1975, allowed Frank to return to the place of his childhood summers. He hunted, shrimped, crabbed, and fished with many neighbors, family, and friends. He had a green thumb and helped grow roses for his love, Peggy. He loved celebrations, especially Oktoberfests and oyster roasts. He was a superb dancer and loved to polka with Peggy and his daughters. He retired from dentistry when he developed Parkinsons disease twelve years ago. He remained an active member and the lowest bass voice in the choir of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Charleston. He enjoyed the outdoors as much as possible. Dr. Heinsohn was very socially active and involved in both his church and community all of his life. He was a member of many organizations, including: St. Matthews Lutheran Church (choir and council member), the Deutsche Bruederlicher Bundt (life member), the German Friendly Society, the Arion Society, the Sojourners Chapter 242 (past president, chapter surgeon and life member), the Charleston Rifle Club, the Folly Beach Exchange Club, the Optimist Club of Charleston (past president), the S.C. Dental Society (member of the Board of Peers), the French Huguenot Society, both the Charleston and the S.C. Rose Societies, and the Elks Club. He was an active alumnus of Rivers High School, The Citadel (honorary), and UNC Chapel Hill. He died the way he lived his life--with his Faith, his marriage, his family, and his many friendships intact. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Peggy Heinsohn, of Folly Beach; his two daughters, Dr. Kathy Heinsohn and special friend, Dr. Walt Bell, of Brunswick, MD and Melisa Vinci and husband, Marty, of Bluffton, SC; his son, Frank Heinsohn and wife, Joan, of Great Mills, MD; foster daughter, Judy Pierce DuPont of Columbia, SC; and grandchildren, Meredith, Christine and A.J. Johnson, dalas Verdugo, Stacey Coleman and Sophie Heinsohn. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Theodora Warner Miller and Frances Lyons. He had many adoring nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends, which are scattered throughout the world, which he loved to travel, especially by sea. The family is grateful for the care that Frank received during his illness, and especially from his caregiver, Susan Simmons. His funeral service will be held , 7, 2014, in Bethany United Methodist Church, 1853 Maybank Hwy., at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Bethany . The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR., INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Al was born 4, 1928 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Alvin Louis Steinberg and the late Ewing Johnson Steinberg. Al served in the U.S. Navy and then served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 20 years. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, served on the Administrative Board, Council On Ministries and held many church offices. He was also an associate member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church. Al was a life member of the South Carolina Dental Association, the Honorary Dental Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon and served on the State Board of Dentistry for six years. Al was a past president of The Rotary Club of Charleston, a former member of The Arion Society, a life member of The Deutscher Bruderliche Bund, a charter member of the Fort Johnson Estates Civic Club and Pool Corp., the Social Club, 3rd Night Supper Club, former member of the James Island Yacht Club and the Sea Island Yacht Club. He was a graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1948 and Temple University School of Dentistry in 1952. Upon retirement from his private dental practice in 1978, Al was the first director of the dental department at the Coastal in Ladson for 10 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; daughter, Janet Steinberg Easterby (John G. Easterby, Jr.) of James Island; son, Craig Alvin Steinberg (Hye Kyong Lee) of Woodbridge, VA; sister, Dolly Steinberg McPherson of Birmingham, AL; brother-in-law, Ernest Thomas Craig (Barbara) of Ft. Obituary: CHAPIN service for Ernest “Ernie” Luther Daymude Jr., 63, will be held at 2 p.m. , 12, 2014, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on , 11, 2014, at Dunbar , Dutch Fork Chapel. Ernie died , 8, 2014, after fighting hard to overcome cancer. Born in Takoma Park, Maryland, he was the son of the late Ernest Luther Daymude Sr. and Jean Wigginton. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Daymude, daughters, Jennifer Harlin of Chapin, Jessica Daymude of Charlotte, N.C. and grandsons, Riley and Wyatt Harlin. Ernie was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling a good story. He never met a stranger and always left you with a smile. He loved life and having a good time whether that was riding a motorcycle, boating on Lake Murray, watching the Washington Redskins, hanging out with friends, listening to music, or reading a good book. He was larger than life, and will leave a void no one can possibly fill.
