Obituary: Norman E. Downs, Jr. , age 58, passed away unexpectedly , 21, 2010. Norman was born at the Norfolk Naval Station on 7, 1951 to Norman E, Sr. & Ivaline McMinn Downs. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and half brother, Larry Downs. He is survived by his life partner and best friend, Jack Davis; his son John Downs, wife Lora and her daughter Celeste; his grandson Jordan Downs who was his pride and joy; his sons mother Charlotte Giddens; his sister, Nona Brothers; his brother, Robert Downs and wife Rene; his uncles and aunts, Wayne & Gevene McLarty of Lubbock TX, Pete & Ruby Jean Walley of Jonesboro AR, and Norman & Sammye Mejia of Houston TX; his nieces, Erica Crawford of Royse City TX, her husband Lee and children Kaitlyn & Michael, Lacey Downs, Jayme Malinowski and her husband Rob, his nephew Ricky Downs and daughter Madison; as well as many friends. His immediate family was lucky enough to live in Del City and Midwest City OK and spend time together frequently. Norman attended Culkin Academy and then Warren Central High school in Vicksburg MS where he excelled in basketball. He also played basketball at Harrison Central High School in Gulfport MS where he graduated in 1970. Immediately following graduation, he moved with his family to Del City, OK where he attended Oscar Rose Junior and then achieved his Bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1977. Norman was passionate about rescuing animals. He loved each and every one of his many cats and dogs who found a forever home with him, especially his shadow St. Bernard, Berney. As a Madness fanatic, Norman took vacation every and had the tournament going on multiple televisions as not to miss a game. Everyone also knew not to interrupt or walk in front of the television when Norman was playing his beloved video games. a 30+ year career at Tinker AFB, he had just retired on 3, 2010. A good friend expressed it best, hose who knew Norman soon learned that ough and gruff was just a big bluff. Norman had a giving nature and a good heart. He was always ready to give help to anyone. He would have taken care of everyone if he had been allowed. He has helped many in his too short life. Norman, you will be missed because you were loved. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Oklahoma Humane Society or the OKC Animal Shelter at SE 29th & Grand Blvd. A graveside memorial service for family and friends will be held 2:00 p.m. , 26, 2010 at Arlington Memory Gardens, NE 36th & Midwest Blvd. under the direction of Bill Eisenhour , Del City, OK. |

Obituary: Jerry Wayne Downs, Beloved Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend departed this Earth on 29th, 2010 to spend eternity in Heaven. Jerry was born May 15th, 1950 in Checotah, OK to William and Minnie Downs. The fourth of five children Jerry knew the value of and importance of family at a young age. Jerry married his high school sweetheart Mary Sue Cannon to whom he has been married for 42 years. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents William and Minnie. Jerry is survived by his wife Mary; daughters, Michelle and Pam; six grandsons, Brandon; Hayden; Dalton; Connor; Dylan; and Parker; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Tia; and one great-grandson, Jayden; his siblings, Louise; Kenneth; William; and Judy; and a host of nieces and nephews. Jerrys greatest pleasure in life was spending time with family. Jerry was no stranger to hard work and had a long career as a mechanic. He loved collecting Hot Wheels; Driving his Corvette around town; Family get-togethers; Flea Markets and anyplace there was a bargain to be found; spoiling his grandchildren; and attending church. Jerrys kindness, wit, sense of humor and loving personality will be missed by everyone who knew him. services will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 3, 2011 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel with Pastor Dan Miller and Pastor Brian Cannon officiating.
