A homemaker, Win especially enjoyed summer months near Lake Erie with her children and their families, time at the beach and pool, golf, bridge, plus winters in Florida. Obituary: William Edwin Douglass, age 91 passed away on 8, 2015 at The Sanctuary of Geneva. Bill was born on 10, 1924 to Frank Crosby and Ruth (Fredericks) Douglass in a, GA. Bill was a lifelong resident of Jefferson. He was a 1942 graduate of Jefferson High School and earned The Eagle Scout Award. He attended Miami University in Oxford, OH before accepting a congressional appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, graduating in1944. A World War II Veteran, he completed several trips crossing the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. He was the owner of Douglass Lumber for over 40 years. He served on the Jefferson Village council, and was a Jefferson Firefighter. Bill was a Past President of the Jefferson Rotary Club, Ohio Lumbermens Association and the Ashtabula Builders Association. He was a life member of Ashtabula Elks Lodge #208. Bill is survived by five children: Margaret Peggie (Larry) Sonstein of Geneva, OH; Constance Con Peltier of Smyrna, GA; William Bill (Pat) Douglass of Geneva, OH; Russell Rusty (DWanna) Douglass, of Jefferson, OH; Scott (Sandy) Douglass of Rancho Bernardo, CA; grandchildren: Michael (Jodi) Sonstein, Mark (Sharon) Sonstein, Morgan (Magdalena) Peltier, Paige (Steven) Freeman, Trisha (Christopher) Dodd, Benjamin (Katy) Douglass, Leslie (Kevin) Monroe, Russell (Jennifer) Douglass, William (Lindsey) Douglass, Amy Douglass, Dianne Douglass and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanne, former wife, Winifred; his sister, Elizabeth Ann Munves, and a grandson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Sanctuary of Geneva for their loving care and compassion as well as a special thank you to Tridia Hospice of Austinburg, OH. Calling hours will be held 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on , 14, 2015 at Jefferson Congregational Church, 41 E. Jefferson Street, Jefferson, OH 44047. Obituary: Marie Jean Douglass, 86, a resident of Orchard Villa in Oregon, Ohio passed away on 21, 2014 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical . She was born on 10, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio to Elmer Logan and Latrilla (Duncan) Keith. She married Robert Douglas. Marie worked as a cook for Gladieux and Mel Bermans restaurant for many years before retiring in 1991. She enjoyed Bingo, crochet, bowling and going to casinos. Marie was also a member of Good Shepherd Church. Marie is survived by her brother, Bill Keith, nieces, Latrilla (Chester) Sadowski and Carla (Naajy) Abdullah, many great nieces and nephews, and friends, Joe Soinski and Larry H. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Latrilla, husband, Robert, brother, Wayne Keith and sisters, Donna Gosik and Verla Geller. Friends will be received on , 23, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Witzler-Shank , 701 North Main St., Walbridge, Ohio 43465 (419-666-3121) where funeral services will be held on , 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the fifth floor ICU nurses, especially, Sue, RN., Kathy RT., and the palliative team.
