Obituary: Betty A. Donner, 94 of formerly of Howland Township, died evening, 26, 2015, at Assumption Village in North Lima, where she made her home for four years. She was born 3, 1920 in Copley, Ohio the daughter of the late William G. and Hazel E. Finch Schweikert. Betty grew up in Mesopotamia and graduated from Mesopotamia High School, where she was a life member of the alumni association. On May 11, 1946, she married Norris E. Pete Donner, a highly decorated veteran of WWII, at the familys home in Mesopotamia. met at Yankee Lake Ballroom before WWII. then made their home in Jamestown, Pa. on the family farm, where they farmed crops and raised chickens. also owned the Red & White Grocery Store in Jamestown. Betty was also employed at the Jamestown high school cafeteria with her sister-in-law, Eleanore. Betty and Pete enjoyed camping with the Rambling Recs Camp Club and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. her husband died in 1976, Betty moved to Warren to be closer to her siblings. She had been a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Warren, where she sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the 50 Plus Senior Citizens. Betty was a long time volunteer with the Red Cross blood drives and at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She loved being actively involved with and babysitting her grandson, Gary, during his early years. She loved spending time with her family. Betty is survived by one daughter, Julie Lynn (Eugene) Wright of North Lima; one grandson, Gary (Carolyn) Wright of Seattle; three step grandsons, William (Stephanie), David (Kari) and Donald ( ) Wright; two sisters-in-law, Gabriella Schweikert and Eleanore Donner and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Norris Pete Donner; her mom, Hazel and stepdad, Galie Gates; an infant son, Gary Lee Donner; a step grandson, Eugene Wright Jr.; two sisters, Veldine Clark and Helen Moore; two brothers, John and William Schweikert, a nephew, Daryl Moore and three brothers-in-law, Jack, Ernest and Robert Donner all have preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. , May 2, 2015 at Lane Family s, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Shenango Valley in Greenville, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
