Obituary: Major Thomas I.Davis, USAF (Retired), age 82 of Beavercreek, passed away , 11, 2017 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, I.V. and Esther Davis, a brother, Michael Davis, and a sister, Christina Davis. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Karen Davis. His children also survive him: Lisa Gross and husband Joseph of IL, Brig. Gen. Stephen Davis and wife Nancy of VA and Kristin Piper and husband Clinton of TX. Nine grandchildren also survive him: Amanda Valdes, Andrew Gross, Monica, Elena, Nicholas, Anna, Gianna and Michael Davis, and Kara Piper, as do six brothers and sisters: Raymond Davis, John Davis, Joan Davis, Carol Russo, Mark Davis and Mary Davis. Tom was retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years as an electrical engineer. He served in Vietnam and spent most of his career at WPAFB. Following retirement, he worked for Logicon and MTC, while teaching part-time at Sinclair . He began teaching at the School of Business Administration at the University of Dayton full time in 1990 and retired in 2013. During his tenure at UD, his students were always his top priority and he loved learning with them. Tom was recognized by SBA students for his teaching with their Professor of the Year Award. His peers also honored him with the SBA 1994 Award for Teaching Excellence. Tom also served as the advisor to Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity, and in 1993 won the Advisor of the Year award. He also created and established a highly popular Wines of the World course at UD. A boundless passion for wine led to a comprehensive knowledge of viniculture, which he enthusiastically shared with others. Tom has made a deep and lasting impact on students, and has enriched the minds, and the palates, of many. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at the University of Dayton Immaculate Conception Chapel, 300 Park, Dayton, OH 45469 at 10 AM on , 17, 2017 with Fr. James Fitz, F.M. officiating. Friends may call at the chapel from 9 AM until the time of the Mass on . Please park in a single-lettered parking lot at the campus when attending the services. Interment in Arlington National will be held at a later date. Obituary: Thomas E. Davis, Jr., age 71, resident of Geneva, passed away , 1, 2013, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. Tom was surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 29, 1942 in Uniontown, PA to Thomas Edgar Davis, Sr., and Sarah Jane Emery. Thomas married Katheryn Jacobs on 10, 2010 in North Perry, OH. Tom was a supervisor at Uniroyal Chemical for many years, but his first love was fishing on Lake Erie for walleye and perch. He also enjoyed billiards and ran his own pool/billiards league. Other past-times include golf, model trains, making fishing poles and golf clubs, and restoring cars. He is survived by his wife, Kate Davis of Geneva; daughters, Kimberly (Mike) Prochaska, Trisha Viruet; son-in-laws, Scott Pirc and Mike (Kim) Morgan; daughter-in-law, Cyndi (Keith) Powell; granddaughters, Caitlin Grand, Alyssia Pirc, Tia and Zoey Viruet, Jennifer Derylak, and Jamie Morgan; grandsons, Joey Prochaska, Danny Derylak, and Brandon Powell; great- granddaughter, Tia; brothers, Robert (Jackie) Davis, James Davis, and Dave Davis; sister, Jayne (Tim) Sabo and many loved nieces, nephews and extended family. Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Davis; daughter, Michelle Pirc; his parents and brother Bill Davis. Family and friends will be received to celebrate Toms life from 1:00-3:00 PM, , 6, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6345 Chapel Rd, Madison, OH 44057. A service will follow at 3:00 PM and Reverend Steve Fisher will be officiating.
