Obituary: DANISZEWSKI, Robert John, age 84, of Washington Township, passed away , May 25, 2015, peacefully and unexpectedly at home. He was born in Old North Dayton on Nov. 3, 1930, the son of Ben (Bronislaw) Daniszewski and Anna (Angela) Wilmanowska Daniszewski. He was a lifelong educator, teacher, and principal in the Dayton Public Schools, leading Jane Addams, Irving, Drexel and Eastmont Elementary Schools as principal in a 33-year career until his retirement in 1987. He later was active in the Montgomery Retired Teachers Association, serving as president in the 1990s and editing and publishing its monthly newsletter. He helped launch the associations Shoe Fund, giving new shoes annually to needy children in the Dayton area, and its Mitten Tree providing gloves and scarfs to children during the holidays. Aside from a brief turn as a principal, coach, bus driver and acting superintendent in rural northeastern Ohio, he was a lifelong resident of the Miami Valley. His fathers family settled in Dayton in the first decade of the 20th century from the Mazowsze region of Poland and was among the founding parishioners of St. Adalbert Church in North Dayton. He attended parochial school at St. Adalberts, graduated in 1948 from Chaminade High School and from the University of Dayton in 1952 in elementary education, where he was active in a range of student activities and clubs. He later received a masters degree in education from Bowling Green State University. On Aug. 23, 1952, he wed Mary Margaret Meyer, his wife of more than 56 years until her death in 2009. He resided in Dayton View and Huber Heights before settling in Washington Township in 1965, becoming a parishioner of the Church of the Incarnation in ville. In retirement, he continued to meet regularly for lunch with fellow Chaminade and Julienne high school classmates. He also remained a lifelong UD Flyers mens basketball fan, following the team to the Madison Square Garden NIT championships in the 1950s right down through to its recent NCAA runs. He remained throughout his life an advocate of the need for support for public schools and civil rights, shaped in part by his work as a principal in Dayton during the turbulent 1960s. He is survived by one brother, Joseph, and by his seven children: John (Drusilla), Kenneth, Julie (William) Blattman, Mark (Melissa), Ralph, Robert (Jennifer), and Marie Johnson; 12 grandchildren: Mary (James), William, Robert (Sarah), Matthew and Jennifer Blattman; Morgan and Madison Dano; Benjamin and Anna Daniszewski; James Johnson; and Jack and Spencer Daniszewski; and one great-grandchild, Evelynn Blattman, as well as numerous nephews and nieces in the Dayton area, Ohio, Texas, and around the country. Obituary: Garee L. Daniska, age 57 of Jackson Twp passed away suddenly at her home. Garee was born 4, 1957 in Columbus to James & Janice (Peters) Giovanini. She was raised in Alliance and graduated from Alliance High School in 1975, then graduated from Mount Union University (1979) and Akron University. Garee was the corporate treasurer for Myers Industries in Akron. Currently, she is the controller for the Leo A. Dick & Sons in Canton, OH. Garee will be remembered for her love of animals, gardening, golfing, wine making and culinary adventures. She especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was an award winning gardener recognized by the Canton Garden Club with their Award of Excellence. Her garden was featured on the Canton Garden Club Tour of Gardens. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband on cruises to their favorite destinations in the Caribbean and Bermuda. Garee is survived by her husband of 31 years, Gary L. Daniska. Her mother Janice Giovanini of North Canton, her father and step mother, James and Eileen Giovanini of Louisville and a sister Cynthia Jobe of North Canton. In addition a sister in law, Carole Fox and brother in law, Paul (Janis) Daniska and many nieces and nephews, and her furry family: Jack, Brie, Daisy, Opie and Felix. She will be missed by ALL.
