Obituary: 1927 – 2016 Canton – Patriarch William Russell Deaver, age 89, of the Cruso Community, winged his way home to be with his heavenly father on , 25, 2016 surrounded by those he loved at The stead. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood , he was a son of the late William Taylor and Velda Blaylock Deaver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Mae Poston Deaver, who died in 2013; a son, Timothy Theodore Deaver; and baby Dovie Deanna Deaver; three brothers; and two sisters. Russell served his country proudly. Prior to his service, as a MP in the Marine Corp, he sailed as a sailor with the merchant marines. He was a very wise man. Russell gained wisdom through the years working at various places. This included working as a ship builder in Newport News, Virginia; he was a manager of a drive-in theater, and he ran Deavers country store in Cruso on Highway 276. Russell was an avid farmer, a skilled electrician, and he retired from Eaton Corporation, after twenty-two years of dedicated service. Russell was a proud member of East Fork Baptist Church and served faithfully as deacon, a member of the choir, and taught womens school. He was also involved in county 4-H. Russell loved the Lord with all of his heart. He loved to read the Bible and history books. Russell enjoyed listening to old gospel music, and sitting on his front porch birdwatching. He loved watching sunsets, and telling papaw stories to his many grand and great-grandchildren. He always said that his needs were few and his wants even less. Russell leaves behind a legacy of strength, honor, patience, and most importantly LOVE! He is survived by five sons, Ronald Russell Deaver (Bhana), Harold Hugh Deaver (Carolyn), Basil Byrd Deaver, Samuel Shaphan Deaver, and Victor Vaughn (Amy); one daughter, Esther Elena White (Craig); two daughters-in-law, Teresa Cole and Angie Deaver; 18 grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of these brought tremendous joy to his life and he was proud of every single one of them. A memorial service, to celebrate and honor his life, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on , 28, 2016 at East Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Chan Chandler and Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. |

Obituary: Hope Mills - William Edwin Deaver, Sr. died peacefully 23, 2015, in his home surrounded by family and friends, after complications from Parkinsons disease and a fall in 2015. He was born 12, 1931 in Cumberland the son of the late Edwin D. and Ruth Butler Deaver. He is also preceded in death by sisters Katherine Mintz, Emily West and Greta Hyde. William is survived by his wife of 64 years Evelyn Taylor Deaver; daughters Beverly D Canady (John W.), Sherie D. Jackson (Jeff) and son William Deaver, Jr.; grandsons Michael Canady, Zachary Deaver, Zayne Deaver; granddaughter Lauren Canady Fraley; great grandson Holden Fraley; sisters in law Theresa Taylor Hutaff, Hilda Taylor Gardener Cashwell (Don), Elaine Taylor Huckabee (Wayne); brother in law Maurice J Taylor (Barbara) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Many thanks to his caretakers, especially Laura. He was a member of Arran Lake Baptist Church. Before retiring he was owner of Deavers Hardware and Deaver Electric. He was previously on the Board of Directors for Southern National Bank and Branch Banking & Trust. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A funeral service will be held , at 3 p.m., 25, 2015 at Arran Lake Baptist Church, 1130 Bingham Dr. officiated by Jeff Isenhour and Phil Horne. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:30-3 P.M. Burial will follow at Hope Mills , Legion Road, in Hope Mills. |

Obituary: In Loving Memory Canton – Louise Reece Deaver, age 86, passed away on , 14, 2016 at Silver Bluff . A native and lifelong resident of Haywood , she was a daughter of the late Zemery and Ella Mae Haynes Reece. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Vaughn Reece and Raymond Lon Reece; and a grandson, Kelley Deaver. Louise was a licensed practical nurse having retired from Midway Medical in Clyde with 34 years of service. Following retirement, Louise worked at Silver Bluff for five years. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Deaver; one daughter, Rita Shuler and husband, Larry, of Ft. Worth, Texas; one son, Randy Deaver and wife, Antoinette Annie, of Interlachen, Florida; three sisters, Mary Rogers of Waynesville, Gwendolyn Lanning of Oregon, and Gayle West (Jerry) of Virginia; two brothers, Reverend Don Reece (Gwen) of Alabama, and Dean Reece (Donna Kay) of California; sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Reece of Florida; five grandchildren, Keri Pribble (John) of Texas, Brady Shuler of Texas;, Micah Shuler (Kristen) of Texas, Danyelle Foland (Clint) of Tennessee and Matthew Deaver (Billie) of Tennessee; and 11 great-grandchildren. services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on , 18, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Jack Holland, Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley, and Reverend Howard Pless officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community . The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. evening at Wells of Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt.
