Obituary: Loyola M. Lola Downey, 86, of Marquette, passed away morning, 5, 2014 at the Norlite . Lola was born 14, 1928 to the late Michael V. and Mary Ann (Beauchamp) Downey. She was a graduate of Bishop Baraga High School where she served on the student council. Following high school, Lola worked for Michigan Mutual Insurance as an underwriter for seven years and then for the Marquette Register of Deeds Office for 34 years, 12 of which she served as Deputy Registrar. She retired in 1995. Lolas generous and selfless nature included caring for her beloved mother. She shared her summer vacation time with her nieces and nephews, enjoying picnics and walks around Presque Isle and Munising Beach. She also enjoyed traveling to visit her nieces in Arizona and Minnesota, and was able to travel to Memphis to share in her nephew, Michaels, wedding. Lola had hoped to someday visit her nephew, John, in New York City. She also greatly enjoyed gatherings with her friends and high school chums. Lola was a member of St. Peter Cathedral where she sang in the choir and participated in afternoon Eucharistic Adoration. She had a quiet demeanor and was a deeply spiritual person that was manifested in her devotion to her faith. She became a resident of the Norlite in of 2013 after suffering a stroke. Lola displayed grace after this incident and wholeheartedly accepted her new environment and her Norlite family. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Patricia (James) Bosco, Diane (Michael) Mlinar, John Ogle and Michael (Denice Perkins) Detroit; great nieces and nephews, Patricia Patsy Detroit, Matthew, Lara, Lucas, Tessa and Arianna Mlinar; and several cousins. Besides her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her sisters, Theresa Ogle and Patricia Detroit and brother-in-law, Merrill Detroit. A Mass will be celebrated on , 13th at 1 p.m. in St. Peter Cathedral with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Visitation will take place in the Bishops Room of the cathedral beginning at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in the Holy Cross in the Spring of 2015. Active pallbearers will be Mike Mlinar and Matthew Mlinar. Honorary pallbearers include Lucas Mlinar and James Bosco. Lolas family would like to thank friends and neighbors, Jack and Sally Fleury for their generous and protective nature, Mike Beauchamp for his many appreciated visits, the members of St. Peter Cathedral who brought Holy Communion and prayed with Lola, and the doctors, nurses and the rest of the wonderful staff of Norlite for their loving and gentle care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lolas memory to Father Marquette Schools, 500 S. Fourth Street, Marquette, MI 49855. Obituary: Downey, Frances Arlene, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, age 60, died at home on 3, 2014 as a result of cancer. Born 28, 1953 in Detroit, she lived in St. Clair Shores and worked as an executive assistant at General Motors. Frances was a member of Rose Clair Eagles Club and enjoyed spending the weekends with her husband boating on Lake St. Clair and at their camper in Port Huron.
