Obituary: Howard Thurston Dowell - Of Jackson passed away on , 20, 2010 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Genevieve (Forner); sons, Daniel and Joseph as well as a daughter, Deborah. He is survived by two sons, Tom and Garrett Dowell and a daughter, Mary (David) Dowell-Wolf; grandchildren, Sarah Wolf, Chris, Lauren, Brandon and Logan Dowell. Howard was one of three children born to Dixon and Hazel Dowell in Jackson. He graduated from Jackson High class of 1938. He served in the Army Air Corps. during WWII. He retired from the U.S. Post office as a clerk and also worked for the Jackson Citizen Patriot during the 1970s. Howard was a gentle, kind hearted man; wonderful father and friend to anyone who knew him. He had a special love for animals and for those who wish contributions may be made to the Cascades Humane Society in his honor. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Countryside and Allegiance Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. According to his wishes cremation has been chosen and a chapel service will be held at St. Johns Catholic on , 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. James Shaver officiating. Obituary: Richard Dowe was a beloved father, husband and grandpa to his granddog "Klutz". He is survived by his wife Pauline to whom he was married for 59 years. Richard is also survived by his son James (Sue). He honorably served as a rifle instructor in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Richard was a die designer in the automotive industry for 39 years who enjoyed playing golf, going fishing and going to the family cottage in Caseville. Richard also enjoyed playing pinochle. He was a very generous and caring person, and will be missed. |
