Obituary: Raymond Fredrick DeClark, age 59 of Warren, died , May 6, 2017 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb in Warren. He was born 22, 1957 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, son of the late Raymond Joseph and the late Elizabeth Martha (nee: Knieling) DeClark. A GM retiree at an early age, Raymond was quite proud of the years he spent at the automotive giant. One of the many who was honored to be a part of the Motor Capital of the world, he extended his utmost in service dedication to the company before accepting his well-deserved retirement. Not content to sit at home, Raymond took a job as a truck driver where he was employed until his passing. When Raymond found time away from work, his life was full of pastimes that stirred his heart and fed his passions. One of these was definitely riding his motorcycle, the iconic Harley-Davidson he proudly owned. Jumping on the Hog and lightin up the roads instilled Raymond with a sense of pleasure that can even be put into words. We could talk about the wind through his hair,…but then, perhaps well just leave that one alone. But there was no mistaking,…riding the Hog was a whole different animal than most any other activity for Raymond. It was a fraternity of appreciation that he immersed himself in for many years and alongside many different Harley owners,…quite the cadre of camaraderie. Along with riding a Hog, Raymond was also known for his abilities in cooking one as well. Whether hog, cow, chicken,…you name the meat and Ray could work his BBQing magic in creating a meal that would find you lickin your chops. He loved to light up that BBQ of his and cook a meal fit for a King. And make no mistake, Raymond was the Master of the Grill. Yet grilling was not his only cooking milieu as he absolutely loved preparing breakfast, too. If you woke up to the dreamy smells of coffee and bacon quaffing through the house, chances are that Raymond wasa working his magic once again. So with the cooking prowess he possessed, Raymonds talents with food had you covered on the front side, and the back side as well. Mmm Good! As for some of his listening and viewing pleasures, (though the choices were rife with the plethora of entertainment that flooded the 60s & 70s), Raymond could never get enough of The King, Elvis Presley,…the Master of all the cowboys, John Wayne,…or the iconic and legendary musical group, The Doors. Between those three and a host of other favorites, Raymond managed to feed his entertainment desires quite effectively. Again, Raymond possessed a number of different options when it came to making lasting moments, yet there were few that came close to the delights he shared at the familys home up in Forestville, Michigan. Nestles just off the coast of Michigans Lake Huron along US-25, it was with great joy each time Raymond and the family got in the car to escape the concrete jungle for a little bit of up north beauty. Providing a peacefulness and serenity that was hard to beat, he treasured every trip and memory created with loved ones and friends. While up at the family escape, one of the added pleasures that Raymond ate up was his passion for sail boats,…something he was able to see a lot of as they sailed off-shore. He loved watching the boats pass by during the Port Huron to Mackinac Race each year. Then there was his smart phone. Though, sadly, the new technology came a little too late for Raymond, he certainly was enthralled with his new gadget that offered him countless hours of interesting and playful entertainment. He LOVED that phone and sharing in all the meaningful experiences the device afforded. Yet, for all who knew Raymond, theyll attest to one of his greatest passions in life being his immense love for his furry friends, those gorgeous German Shepherds that graced his home. All told, he was the proud Fur Papa to three of them; Prince, Princess, and Pup. Though they had all passed on, theres a delight in knowing that Raymond is, once again, enjoying the company of his puppies in a place where all dogs go to Heaven. But that doesn mean his German Shepherd fun had ceased before he died, Raymond was always excited to play the role of Dog-Sitter for his daughters shepherd, Sasha. It was Gods gift for the interim. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Raymond loved life, loved his family & friends, and leaves behind a legacy of love to be embraced with each reflection shared. A life gone far too soon from our presence, may he rest in peace as he awaits the reunion of his loved ones as they are joined one by one. He will be missed immensely. Raymond was the beloved husband of Nora. Dear father of Kim (Floyd) Wilkins, and loving grandfather of Aaron James Wilkins and Autumn Brooke Wilkins. Brother of Catherine Jo, Debra (Richard) Spanke, Philip Terry DeClark, and the late Daniel Stephen DeClark. Visitation for Raymond will be held , May 10th from 5-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons , 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. His Service will be conducted at 10:00 am on at the funeral home.
