Obituary: Patricia L. (McAuliffe) DeCoste , a proud lifelong Scituate resident passed away at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston on the evening of 25, 2016 in her 80th year. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. DeCoste who preceded her in death in May of 2005. Together they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, she was the dear daughter of the late William and Winifred (Quinn) McAuliffe. Pat was a 1954 graduate of Scituate High School. In 1956, she received her LPN from Youville School, in Cambridge. She was a loving and dedicated nurse, working for a time at Pond Meadow in Weymouth, and later worked for 23 years at Norwell Knoll . She was a lifelong parishioner at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, and she was steadfast in her faith. She taught Religious Education for many years, and she was a long time member of the Ladies Sodality. Pat was a diehard Red Sox fan, and an avid animal lover. Pats true passion was spending time with family and friends, and she cherished her family vacations to Lake Winnipesaukee and Florida. She was the devoted mother of Cathy DeCoste of Rockland, Patti Mitchell and her husband, Woody of Sandwich and Tom DeCoste and his wife Nancy of Scituate. Pat was the cherished Nana of Dustin Taylor of Plymouth, Monica Roberts and her husband, Adam of Missouri, and Billy, Erin and Daniel DeCoste of Scituate. She was the loving great-grandmother of James Roberts of Missouri. She was the loving sister of the late Ann Botelho. Pat is also survived by her beloved niece, nephews and many cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on , 3, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate, Massachusetts. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband immediately following the Mass at Cudworth . Visiting hours will take place on , 2, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Richardson-Gaffey , 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, Massachusetts. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Obituary: Charles L. DeCoste, 81, of Gloucester, husband of Barbara L. (Duchane) DeCoste, passed away in Beverly Hospital on afternoon, 2, 2014. Charles was born in Gloucester, MA on 10, 1933, the son of the late Leonard J. Decoste and Marjorie L. (Doucette) DeCoste, who still resides in Gloucester. Charles was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1951. At GHS, he played football and was a member of the 1949 championship football squad. Charles enlisted in the United States Navy and attended schools in Bainbridge, MD and Great Lakes IL. Assigned to the destroyer USS OBannon, DDE450, he made three tours to Korea. In 1952, while in the Pacific area, he participated in the first H-bomb test at Entiwetok in the Marshall Islands. The following year, the OBannon escorted Admiral Bull Halsey to Australia where Charlie participated in a celebration of the WW2 Battle of the Coral Sea. Honorably discharged from the Navy in , 1955, Charlie then went to work for the New England Telephone . In 1991, after 37 years, Charlie retired as a Division Staff Manager. Growing up and spending his life near the ocean, Charlie had a love for the sea, and a passion for sports. He especially enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren sailing on his boat, Windrider, during their annual summer visits. A loyal fan of Gloucester High School sports, he and Barbara attended GHS football, hockey, and baseball games for many years. As a member of the United States Sail and Power Squadron, Charlie taught basic boating skills and safety for several years. He received the grade of Senior Navigator as a member of the Beverly Squadron. For a number of years, Charlie was a competitive player on tennis teams representing the Manchester Tennis Club. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, The Amvets Post 32 and the Gloucester Power Squadron. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, 3 children, Carol Ann Jackson and her husband Wayne, of Gloucester, Charles L. DeCoste Jr. and his wife, Kimberly of Richmond KY, Jeffrey P. DeCoste and his wife Julie, of Hawthorne CA; 7 grandchildren, Erin M. Whittey , Thomas C. Jackson and his wife, Alyssa, Jennifer M. DeCoste-Lopez and her husband Cesar, Daniel C. DeCoste, Justine N. DeCoste, Katelyn R. DeCoste, Jeffrey P. DeCoste Jr. ; 2 great grandchildren, Susana Lopez and Claira Jackson; 2 brothers, Leonard DeCoste and his wife, Judith of Danvers, MA and Peter J. DeCoste and his wife, Roberta of FL and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Katherine M. Whittey and grand daughter, Megan Whittey. His funeral mass will be celebrated on , 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anns, Holy Family Parish, Gloucester. Visiting hours will be held prior to the mass, in the Greely , 212 Washington St. Gloucester, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited.
