Obituary: A lifetime resident of Prairieville, she passed away on Aug. 14, 2011 at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet. A loving mother and homemaker, she was 87. She loved spending time with her family and gardening. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Babin and husband Randy; two sons, Karon Duplessis and wife Julie, and Jack Duplessis and wife Donna; a sister, Janette Aiken; eight grandchildren, Tammy Nickens Billeaudeaux, Brady Nickens, John Duplessis, Reggie Duplessis, Todd Duplessis, Shantelle Whealton, Chairity Waugh, and Chase Duplessis; 11 great grandchildren, Harley and Blakely Smith, Mandy and Seth Gomon, Deshara and Bralee Nickens, Isabella and Elisha Duplessis, Kirsten Gautreau, and Connell and Phelan Whealton; and one great-great grandchild, Beck. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ida Melancon Delaune; her husband, Leon V. Duplessis; and a brother, Kearney Delaune. A visitation will be held at Ourso in Gonzales on , Aug. 16, 2011 from 5 pm until 9 pm. Visitation will resume at Ourso on , Aug. 17, 2011 at 8 am until funeral services at 10 am, with Bro. Bobby Ready officiating. Pallbearers are John, Reggie, Todd, and Chase Duplessis, Brady Nickens, and Mike Waugh. Obituary: Malcolm Joseph Duplechin, 76, died , 11, 2014, in a local care center. He was a native of Basile and had been a resident of Vinton for the last nine years, coming from Sulphur. Malcolm enjoyed painting and working with his hands. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Duplechin of Vinton; four children, Marcus Scott Duplechin and wife, Verna, Maxwell John Duplechin and wife, Monica, Marla Kay Duplechin, and Malana Ann Walter, all of Sulphur; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents, Prosper and Della Duplechin; and two brothers, David and Phillip Duplechin. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. , 14, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial . Jody Barilleaux will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service. |

Gene was a retired business owner of D&R Welding and Steel Supply. He always loved to dance, be around his family, and have coffee with his friends every morning. In his lifetime he enjoyed tennis, scuba diving, skiing and traveling. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a long time member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church. He will be sadly missed. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. |

Ashlie was born in Lake Charles and lived here all of her life. She graduated from LaGrange High School and received her teaching degree from McNeese State University. Ashlie taught school at R.W. Vincent and J.J. Johnson. She worked as a phlebotomist and she was a graduate of Stage One. She was a member of the Turners Syndrome Society. Ashlie was known to her friends as a fashion diva who loved to shop. She was very devoted to her family and loved them with all of her heart. Ashlie was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister and friend. Survivors include her loving husband, Chris Duplechin; her parents, Tony and Lisa Dansby; brother, Jeremy Dansby; paternal grandparents, Rex and Frances Dansby; maternal grandmother, Wilma Sullivan; and her beloved puppies, Beaux and Biscuit all of Lake Charles.
