She had a rapport with her customers and they all enjoyed being served by her. She had a contagious smile and gift of friendliness. In her younger days she held the title of Yambilee Queen. Obituary: Wilson Andrew Duplantis, Jr., devoted husband and father, passed away on May 30, 2017 at the age of 77. Beloved husband to Carole Hoyle Duplantis. Survived and dearly missed by two children, Denise Coste (Bubba) and David Duplantis, three grandchildren, Kendall Coste, Nash Coste and Britny Batt (David), two great-grandchildren, Boden and Wyatt Batt and his beloved dog “Sonny”. Wilson was born on 5, 1939 to parents Wilson Andrew Duplantis, Sr. (decd) and Glennie Boutte Duplantis (decd) with his sister Glennie Duplantis Weidert. He is also survived by his loving niece Lisa Christensen (Marcus) and nephew Keith Weidert, along with his two great-nieces, Madison and Maisie Christensen. Wilson spent his early years in Harahan and Old Jefferson and attended East Jefferson High School. high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return he attended LSUNO, where he met his wife, Carole. Wilson had worked for many years as a salesman for Southern Flow in Belle Chasse, and in his later years he worked for Oreck. Spending time with his wife, children and especially his grandkids was his true joy in life. Wilson enjoyed meeting people and was a lifetime member of the Lions Club and was a member of the Porch Monkeys at Dot’s Diner on Jefferson Highway. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. Obituary: COTEAU - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Sylvia Toutcheque Duplantis, age 66, at 2:00 pm on , 18, 2010 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Msgr. Richard Green will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church mausoleum. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline on from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 pm The funeral home will reopen on form 8:00 am until services. Mrs. Duplantis was a native and resident of New Iberia, and passed away peacefully at 1:30 pm , 15, 2010 at Iberia Medical . Mrs. Duplantis was retired from the Iberia Parish School board with 33 years of service. She was a cook and spent many years at New Iberia Senior High, before moving to Sugarland Elementary and then Iberia Middle School. Sylvia loved family gatherings and being with friends. Many great meals were shared and many fond memories made. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Joseph AJ Duplantis of Coteau; her sons, Larry Duplantis and wife Christine, and Wiley Duplantis all of New Iberia; 2 granddaughters, Nichole Landry and Victoria Duplantis; 2 great grandchildren, Courtland and Kelsey Buteaux; and her sisters and brothers, Edward Touchet, Sr., Alvin Toucheque, Jeanette Arceneaux, Willis Touchet, Anna Mae T. Champagne, Anna Belle Touchet, Theresa Touchet, Sarah T. Gaspard, and Louise T. Courville. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mable Desormeaux Toucheque; and sister, Mary Ann Touchet; and her nieces, Melissa Toucheque and Shannon Champagne.
