Obituary: Linda Anne Dowty died peacefully the morning of 20, 2017 at Ochsner Medical . She was 67 years old and a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was born on 22, 1949 at Touro Hospital. Linda attended St. Rita School in Harahan and St. Stephens and Riverdale High School. She was an active parishioner of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church and in 1988 she became the first resident and Golden Member of the Mater Dolorosa Apartments which is still owned and operated by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Linda is survived by her parents Albert Joseph Dowty, Jr. and Teresa Johnson Dowty and her siblings Arleen Dowty Broderick (John), Jeanette Dowty Lauve (Michael), Robert Paul Dowty (Karen) and Maureen Dowty Garland. She was the proud aunt of Joshua Douglas Kern, Nicholas Michael Lauve, Allison Teresa Dowty, Brandon Rocquet Sanchez, Chelsea Elizabeth Sanchez, and great-aunt to Charlotte Elizabeth Sanchez. Linda was a devout Catholic who attended mass every and fully participated in church and parish functions. She loved Mardi Gras and rode and marched in parades for several years. Linda was a diehard LSU fan. She watched every football and baseball game she could and attended many in Tiger Stadium. Her favorite colors were purple and gold. Aside from LSU games, Linda's favorite activity was to eat in New Orleans' finest restaurants. She loved to get dressed up and celebrate special occasions especially her birthday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie , 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on , 24, 2017 at 11AM. Visitation will begin at 9AM until service time. Obituary: Ruth Edith Darouse Downs, longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away , 6, 2014 at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet at the age of 88. She was born on 6, 1925 in Hammond, LA. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Desk and Derrick Club in Baton Rouge. She worked for Bardwell & Holloway, was on the Mineral Board for the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, and was the first female employee at Community Coffee in the 1940s. Ruth loved water sports, despite her poor swimming skills, and she enjoyed reading.
