Obituary: Benjamin F. DeLaune, a resident of Galvez, LA, born 25, 1932 in Oak Grove, LA died 19, 2016 at 7pm at St. Elisabeth Hospital in Gonzales after an 11 year battle with lung cancer. He graduated from Dutchtown High School, excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from Bell South Telephone , where he worked as a cable repair foreman for 34 years. He was also retired from the Ascension Parish Public Works Department where he worked as a road supervisor for 14 years. He also retired from Ascension Equipment where he was known as "Paw Paw the tractor man". He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Vernell Savario DeLaune; daughter, Cassie Lemoine and husband, Bill; sons and daughters-in-law, Benny and Kittye Brown DeLaune, Pete and Mitzi Miller DeLaune, Tommy DeLaune; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kurt Soileau and wife, Janell and children Shelby and Gabe, Megan DeLaune, Aaron DeLaune, Lacie DeLacerda and husband, Jacob and children Alexia Lambert, Gage Alexandra, Lauren Collins and husband, Michael, Hailey, Mason, Jacob, Carter, Conner, Luke, Katie, Jennie DeLaune; brother, Ray DeLaune and wife Mary; sisters, Lillie Bell Hernandez, Florence DeLaune, and numerous nieces, nephews and dedicated friend, Ray Edleman and Paw Paw's top cat, Sophie. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her daughter, Theresa M. Brown and husband Jon; son, Jason Guillory and wife Melanie; granddaughter, Kayla Marie Brown, two other grandchildren, and numerous friends and other family members. Visitation will be held at Seale on , 29, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation Resumes at the funeral home on , 30, 3017 from 12:00 PM until Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM.
