Obituary: Phillip O. Douglas West Des Moines Phillip O. Douglas, 62, passed away peacefully on , 15, 2009 with his family at his bedside. A Memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm at McLarens Chapel with private military graveside services at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date. Phillip was born 3, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Orval and Olive Douglas. He had lived in Gainesville, Texas for many years prior to moving to West Des Moines in 2006. Phillip was a self-employed painter and a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Beaverdale VFW and he enjoyed fishing and artwork. Phillip is survived by his two sons, Brian (Crystal) Douglas of Pleasant Hill and Jason (Heather) Douglas of Charles City; two grandchildren, C.J. Douglas of Pleasant Hill and Isabelle Douglas of Charles City; one step-grandchild, Marissa Thomas of Pleasant Hill; three sisters, Phyllis (Gary Chew) Hetheriton of West Des Moines, Linda (Larry) Kacer of Altoona and Connie (Gene) Patrick of Vinita, OK and brother, Rick McPhee of Des Moines. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Dorothy Douglas. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa. |
