Obituary: Carolyn Ward Driggers, 88, a resident of Dothan, died , 17, 2015 at her residence. services will be held 2:00 p.m. , 22, 2015 at Byrd Chapel with Dr. Austin Phillips and Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill with Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 prior to service time. Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to the Recreation Department of Covenant United Methodist Church. Miss Driggers was born 26, 1927 near Malvern. She finished high school in Slocomb as an excelling student and was involved in all sports. She later completed a general business course on scholarship and several other college courses by invitation. She was employed in Montgomery with Rosemont Gardens as Cashier, Alabama Farm Bureau as Clerk and Alabama Inspection and Rating Bureau as Receptionist before accepting a position with General Motors in their Insurance Division. Her position took her to several cities to open branch offices before her final location in Birmingham, AL. From there she retired from General Motors in 1980 at age 53 as Executive Secretary. She and her sister Sibyl, who was widowed, returned home to Dothan to join Brother Fred and his family. Miss Driggers was an avid Bridge player but her special interest has always been her family members. She and Sibyl remained together from 1980 until 2012 when her sister went to be with her Lord. Miss Driggers was predeceased by her father and mother, Charles A. and Maude Ward Driggars; sister, Sibyl Driggars Rich and husband, Everett and daughter, Bonnie; brothers, Terry Driggers and wife, Tillie; Wallace Driggers and wife, Nita; Adolph Driggers and Fred Driggars and wife, Hazel; and a nephew, Alan Driggers and son. She is survived by nephews, James L. Driggars (Brenda) of Clanton, AL and his son, Jason and son, Jonah of Las Vegas, NV; Charles R. Driggars (Joyce) of Birmingham, AL and their son, Joseph (Tara) and daughter, Hazel, all of Boone, NC; Charles A. Driggers (Judy) of Ashville, NC; a niece Ann Beagle and daughter, Jamie, both of Gainesville, FL; other nieces and nephews; two special cousins, Dorothy Ward and Peggy Merrill, both of Dothan. Active pallbearers will be Jeff King, Sam Moore, Bob Zbendin, Sammy Prim, Ansley Jones and Vince Dooley. |

Obituary: A. Owen Drey, Jr. - A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, died , 12, 2010, at the age of 82. Owen was preceded in death by his father, Albert Owen Drey, Sr. and Philippa Ann Caton Drey. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Williamson Drey; his son, A. Owen (Kathryn) Drey III of Mobile; his daughter, Kathryn Drey (Harry) Peffen of Nashville, TN; his grandchildren: Will and Mary Caton Peffen; Gaines Drey, Elizabeth, Margaret and Lauren Petersen; his sister, Jacquelyn Drey Marrero; nephews, Eric and Victor Marrero; and his niece, Kathy Marrero. Owen attended Old Shell Road School, Barton Academy, and graduated from Murphy High School in 1945. Having enrolled at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in the fall of 1945, where he joined Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and walked on the football team, he felt called to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served from 1946 until 1949. He returned to and was graduated from A.P.I. in 1952, earning his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Owen was raised at Government Street Presbyterian and has been a long standing member of Spring Hill Presbyterian. He owned and operated his own business, A. O. Drey, Co. for more than 30 years. He was an active member of the Mobile Jaycees and the old Downtown YMCA. Owen was a fierce competitor enjoying handball, basketball and racquetball, though his greatest love was tennis. A beloved husband, doting father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed. Graveside services and interment will be held on , 14, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in Magnolia with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the service. Obituary: Harriet Ann Hauck Dressler, 93 former resident of Tampa, Florida, passed away in Opelika, Alabama, on , May 17, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband, the Reverend George E. Dressler; siblings Robert (Audrey) Hauck, Ronald (Kathy) Hauck, Roger (Laura) Hauck, and Lois (Roger) Mills; and a daughter-in-law, Carole Dressler. She is survived by her children, Eugene (Becky) Dressler, Carol (Jeff) Jakeman, and Stephen (Julie) Dressler; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three siblings, Russell (Agnes) Hauck, Marilyn (Gordon) Plorin, and Ray (Willie) Hauck; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Dressler was born 12, 1921, in Red Wing, Minnesota, the daughter of Hazel and Russell Hauck. She and her seven siblings were raised just outside St. Paul, Minnesota, in the small farming town of Wescott Station. When Mrs. Dressler was 19, she met George Dressler while attending Luther League. a five-year courtship and his graduation from Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary, they married on May 11, 1945. When Rev. Dressler received his first call in 1945 as an assistant pastor of Lutheran Memorial Church, they moved to Madison, Wisconsin, and lived there until receiving a call in 1947 to organize St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Waukesha, Wisconsin. During their time in Wisconsin, Mrs. Dressler gave birth to their three children, Gene, Carol and Steve. In 1954, they moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota when Rev. Dressler was called to Salem Lutheran Church. In 1961, the family moved to Tampa, Florida, upon receiving a call to Faith Lutheran Church, where Rev. Dressler served as pastor until he retired in 1975. Following Rev. Dressler's death in 2005, Mrs. Dressler moved to Auburn, Alabama, in 2007 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Jeff Jakeman. Mrs. Dressler will be remembered for her deep faith, strong work ethic, sharp mind and commitment to serving her family and friends. Alongside Rev. Dressler, she served their congregants and Lord faithfully. In addition to her many duties as a mother and a pastor's wife, she also worked as a legal secretary in St. Paul and as an executive secretary to Mr. Joe Maldonado at Maas Brothers Department Stores in downtown Tampa. Her family and friends have fond memories of her beautiful hand-crafted Chrismons; delicious cinnamon rolls, fruit pizzas, and Christmas cookies; love of gardening; ability to sew, mend, and clean any article of clothing; annual Christmas letters and open houses; Christmas stockings she knitted for each family member; passion for writing letters; never-ending hospitality; and unwavering support of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn, Alabama, on , 8, at 2 p.m. CDT. A family commital service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Tampa, Florida.
