Obituary: DISMUKES, Reverend William Nicoles, Nic, 82 of Millbrook, passed away 9, 2014. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM 13 at Ridouts Prattville Chapel followed by his funeral service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Travis Coleman and Pastor Dave Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Prattville Memorial Gardens cemetery. Reverend Dismukes was born in Elmore on 14, 1931 to the late Aubrey Cortez Dismukes and Issalee Dix Dismukes. He was a farmer and spent many years as an agricultural consultant in the Autauga, Dallas and Lowndes areas. He also was called to the ministry and served as pastor for the Pratt Court and Billingsley Baptist Churches for a number of years. In 2011 he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Billie Jean, and a son Derek Dismukes in 1963. He is survived by two daughters and sons \in-law; Debby and Ron Rainer of Birmingham, Karen and Roy Grimes of Prattville; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Nita Dismukes of Millbrook; two brothers, Albert Dismukes of Ft. Walton Beach and Dan Dismukes of Prattville; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family members. Active pallbearers will be Adam Parker, Ryan Rainer, Clay Rainer, Neal Cox, Jay Brothers and Will Dismukes. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Vinson, David Green and the Mens School Class of the Prattville First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alabama Baptist Childrens , PO Box 361767, Birmingham, Al. 35236 |

Obituary: Edward Brock Dismukes, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away 24, 2016, aged 89 years. He was born 9, 1927, in Georgiana, Butler , Alabama. His parents were Ruth (Brock) and Benjamin Ellison Dismukes. His undergraduate studies at Birmingham-Southern were interrupted by a year’s service in the U.S. Army in 1946. He returned to BSC and completed his B.S. in chemistry, then attended the University of Wisconsin, receiving his M.S. and Ph.D. in physical chemistry. He moved to Birmingham in 1953 to begin employment with Southern Research Institute, where he met his wife, Barbara Lee Johnston. married May 15, 1954, and raised two children, Ann and Alan. He and his wife attended First United Methodist Church in Birmingham, where the family actively participated in the programs of the church. During his career with SRI, Dr. Dismukes spent twenty years conducting classified research on defensive measures for chemical warfare agents as Head of the Physical Chemistry Section and Head of the Chemical Defense Section. In 1977 he transferred to SRI’s Environmental Sciences Department. As Senior Research Advisor, he became a nationally recognized expert on flue gas conditioning processes and studied methods of removing sulfur and ammonia from power plant emissions, as well as other air pollution control measures. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Johnston Dismukes. Survivors include a sister, Louise Dismukes, a daughter, Ann (Mike) Allen, a son, Alan (Virginia) Dismukes, grandchildren Michelle (Richard) Mickwee, Dan (Ashley) Watkins, Kate Dismukes, Ruth Dismukes, Kendall (Michael) Bolling, and Dana Allen, as well as great-grandchildren Molly Self, Richard Mickwee III, Olivia Bolling, and Cooper Bolling. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Birmingham at 2:00 p.m., , 27, Johns-Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel directing. Visitation will take place prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. |
