Obituary: Albert Allen Demster, 89 born in Grand Tower, Illinois passed away 17, 2015 at the Eden Village , Glen Carbon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Esther E., nee Kayser Demster; his parents Albert Ross and Cleta D., nee Snider Demster; his sisters, Margaret Colvis and Mary Lee Higgerson and a brother Everett Pete Demster. Surviving is his daughter, Linda Appel (Steven) of Maryville and his brother Robert Demster of San Jose, California; sisters-in law Mary Demster of Glen Carbon, Helen Dooley (Martin) of Granite City, Il; LuAnn Falbe (John) of Overland Park, Kansas; Norma Kayser of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews. Albert and his brother Robert were raised in Chester, Illinois. He always said he had the best childhood as he and his brother had the Mississippi River at their back door and lived a lifestyle like that of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. His brother was his best friend growing up. In May of 1944 Albert joined the U S Naval Service, a WWII veteran. During his Great Lakes training, he ranked third in long distance running and sixth in long distance swimming out over 300 men in boot camp. He served as an Aviation Machinists Mate Third Class and was certified as a pilot. He served until of 1947. Albert became experienced in operating heavy equipment and in 1953 went to Saudi Arabia to help build the countrys infrastructure. He gained experience with Walbash Drilling and in 1955 he started his own business, Construction Drilling , which he and his wife operated until 2011, retiring at the age of 85. Albert enjoyed riding his Harley with good friend of the family, Red Meredith. He was an animal lover and was always finding homes for stray dogs and cats, usually their own home. He enjoyed caring for his horses and cared for them till the end of their life. The family of Albert Demster would like to thank the excellent caregivers at Eden Village Assisted Living and and their managing staff for treating Albert with much kindness in his time of declining health. Special thanks to Unity Hospice of Greater St. Louis for their assistance in caregiving. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on , 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on , 23, 2015 with Father Joseph Halvrika officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Calvary Catholic in Edwardsville. The family requests memorials may be made in the form of mass intentions for Albert or support your local animal shelter. |

Obituary: Robert Bob M. Dempsey, 78 died 26, 2015 at St. Josephs Hospital in Mishawaka, IN. Bob was born in Chicago, IL to the late Jerry and Agnes (Nee) Degnan Dempsey. He served in US Navy during the Korean War. He was a Captain on the Chicago Fire Department with 34 years of service, retiring in 1995. He was a 50 yr member of the Chicago Fire Fighters Union Local 2, Knox, IN VFW and the American Legion. He spent his retirement years at his home at Bass Lake, IN and his home in North Fort Myers, FL. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Anne (Nee) Bourke Dempsey, two sons Robert (Elizabeth) Dempsey, of Mount Prospect, IL, David Dempsey of Chicago and the late Lawrence (Tina) Dempsey of Crestwood, IL. He is the proud grandfather of 7 Luke, Jeremiah, Rebecca, Joe, Jessica, Kathleen and Patrick. He is also survived by his brother Michael (Sandy) Dempsey, of New Lenox, IL and his sister Laverne (James) Fogt, of Warrenville, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
