Obituary: PEKIN ~ Gladys DeBoer, 88, of Pekin, passed away at 12:00 p.m. , 3, 2014 at her home. Gladys was born 31, 1925. She was raised by her mother and her father, Fannie and Oscar Caryer. She married Fred DeBoer on 19, 1948 in Springfield. He died 6, 1986 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by parents; one infant daughter, Kathy; one son, Gary Neavor; one grandson, David Neavor; and one brother, Eugene Caryer. Surviving are one daughter, Sandi (Jay) Myers of Pekin; two sons, Robert (Lynn) DeBoer of Peoria and Rick (Bert) DeBoer of Pekin; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, David (Charlene) Caryer of Manito. Gladys was an active member of the Second Reformed Church in Pekin, where she had served as Deacon and Deaconess. A devout Christian, family was everything to Gladys. She worked various places throughout her life, last working at the Caterpillar Canteen in East Peoria. She later provided childcare for Adam and David Wiest for 16 years. She loved them like family and they held a special place in her heart. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. at Second Reformed Church in Pekin. Rev. Bill Appleyard-Pekich will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Preston-Hanley s & Crematory in Pekin is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be given to her church at 600 State St. Pekin, IL 61554. |

Obituary: Edmund B. DeBoer, 76, of Crystal Lake passed away 19, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family and dear friends. He was born 5, 1939 in Denver, Colorado to Walter and Kathryn (Malin) DeBoer. On 18, 1980 he married Helen Bushy in West Dundee. Edmund grew up in Denver where he achieved Eagle Scout rank. He graduated from the University of Denver with a B.A. in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He worked for 35 years at the University of Illinois at Chicago as an Assistant Director of Purchasing. Edmund was very strong, hard-working, and disciplined. He was also a loving husband and father. He welcomed everyone into his home and loved entertaining. He is survived and will be missed very much by his wife, Helen; his sons, Brett, J, Wyatt, and Michael (Janelle); his sister, Merry C. DeBoer; his brother-in-law, Louis (Jayne) Bushy; his cousin, Dave (Karen) DeBoer; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia DeBoer; and his uncles, Ed, his namesake, and Harry. There will be a memorial service at 2pm on , 27 at Querhammer & Flagg , 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Society, or the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Obituary: EAST PEORIA ~ Carolyn Jean DeBoer, 78, of East Peoria, passed away at 12:14 a.m. , 26, 2016 at Manor Court in Peoria. Born 11, 1938 in Pekin to William Thomas and Marguerite Louise (Meisinger) Shepperd, she married the love of her life whom she dated since the age of 14, Ronald J. DeBoer on 15, 1956 in Pekin. He died 30, 2014 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are three daughters, Marsha (George) Pratt of Bartonville, Beth (Wayne) Stogsdill of Creve Coeur and Tanya (Chip) Hollingsworth of Germantown Hills; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Klecker of Peoria and Pat (Doug) Troyer of Pekin and two brothers, Tom (Susan) Shepperd of Chesterfield, Missouri and Bob (Lauri) Shepperd of Pekin. Carolyn had worked as an activity director at Pavilion care for 20 years, retiring in 2000. In her early years, she worked at Standard Brands in Pekin and operated a licensed daycare in her home. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Carolyn enjoyed quilting, sewing, antiquing and had a love for animals. She also loved going for drives with her husband, who she had an overwhelming love for and helping and guiding others. Carolyn was a 60 year member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin, where her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. , 30, 2016. Pastor Bill Appleyard-Pekich will officiate.
