Obituary: William Barnard Craig (Bill), loving husband and father, passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on 21st, 2014. He was born to William Richard Craig and Ruth Barnard Craig in Belle Plaine, Iowa on 23, 1915. He was commissioned second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army ROTC in 1938 and graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1939. On 7, 1939, he married his first wife, Margaret Mae Manuel, an R.N. who also graduated from the University of Iowa. He was on active duty with the U.S. Army for 6 years, beginning on 12, 1940, and served in the 1123rd Engineers Combat Group in Pattons Third Army in Europe during WWII. Near the conclusion of the war, with his combat unit, he liberated Buchenwald, a German concentration camp. the war ended, he served as Military Governor of Sudetenland. He retired from the U.S. Army 23, 1977. the war, he served as a hydraulic engineer in the Omaha, Jacksonville, and Washington, D.C. District offices of the Corps of Engineers, Department of the Army, working on water resources development of the Missouri River and Central and Southern Florida. In Washington, he worked on preparation of strategic intelligence studies for the Army staff. He eventually transferred to the Office of the Chief of Engineers and advised the Corps and other government agencies as an expert and consultant. He developed and directed a systems effectiveness program for the NIKE-X ABM program. He also participated in the R&D programs and advanced design concepts for launch, test, and research facilities for NASA. his first wife died in 1965, Bill remarried to Jeffie Bullock, a secretary at his office from Mississippi. He was very active in freemasonry, having been crowned an Honorary Inspector General and an Honorary Member of the Supreme Council of the 33rd Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, 18, 1989. He was thrice Grand Master of the William R. Singleton-Hope-Lebanon Lodge in 1975, Cryptic Masons of the District of Columbia in 1978, and the Evangelist Chapter Rose Croix, Washington in 1983, as well as receiving other Honors and awards. He was also an active member of the Little Falls Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia, serving as a deacon and elder. the death of his second wife in 2005, he came to Naples, Florida, living happily at Terracina Grand, a retirement community, and attended First Presbyterian Church with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Sue Craig Dotson, married to Dr. Ralph J. Dotson; a granddaughter, Lisa Dotson Meloche, married to Gerald (Jerry) Meloche; a grandson, Stephen Craig Dotson; and a great grandson, Travis Gerald Meloche. Hodges Chapel at Naples Memorial Gardens is in charge of arrangements. Bill will be inurned at Arlington National with his two wives, who preceded him. There will be a Masonic/ Military at the Chapel followed by burial with full military honors at a later date. Bill will be forever remembered for his wonderful smile, kindness and consideration for all who knew him. |

Obituary: Steve was born 11, 1943 in Decatur, IL, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He graduated from MacArthur High School in 1961, and studied engineering at Millikin University in 1962 thru 1963. From 1964 to 1985 he was project manager for a design, build, and manufacturing company in the grain handling business. Steve moved to Sarasota in 1986. He owned and operated “A Touch of Art” gallery and framer located at the Midtown Plaza on Fruitville Road. Steve loved his family and friends. He liked playing tennis and basketball, going for walks on the beach, sunsets, art and art galleries, music and dancing. Steve also enjoyed cars, car show, and especially his Corvettes. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest T. Craig and Norma J. Craig-Schroeder and his step-father Virgil E. Schroeder. Survivors include his son Chad T. Craig, grandson Ethan T. Craig, and many first cousins in Nevada, Illinois, and Ohio. Memorial services will be at Wiegand Brothers , 7454 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231 on , 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.
