Obituary: Lillie Mae Cooper born 21, 1921, daughter of Priscilla (Young) & Cleveland Benyard Campbell, received her heavenly wings 30th 2016 at 6:44 am , after gracing the earth for 94 yrs. She slipped away gently and peacefully in her sleep. Her parents were Loving hardworking individuals that provided a wonderful life for them through the great depression. Lillie was the oldest of 5 Children and grew up in Alliance Ohio with her siblings, Bennie Lee Burruss, Odesa Rodgers, Edward Campbell, and Magnolia Clanton. She was the last in her generation making her the Queen Bee and Matriarch of our very large family. Lillie Married Roland Baldwin Cooper and had 5 children,…Roland II has 9 children,(Lisa Switec, Roland III, Benjamin, Lee Ann Pastore, Kristy, Aaron , Shawn, Brandi Knake, Rory Cooper ) Janice Ashmore has 2 children,(Todd and Andrea Ashmore) Doug Cooper has 3 children (Sandra, Edward and Michele), Jim Cooper has 4 children (Melissa , Jeremy, Allan, and Brittany) Sharon and spouse Barry Grimes have 4 children (Daric , Ashlei, Noah & Luke). 22 Grand Children and countless Great Grandchildren and even Great, Great Grandchildren. Covering 5 generations. At 94 She Loved Face Book and seeing pictures of all her grandchildren. Lillie also left behind Nieces and nephews and cousins that are also missing her till we meet again. Lillie Loved the Lord and cherished singing in the choir and was also the mother of her church. When she became less mobile she never missed watching service on the television. We were blessed to have a mother richly devoted to her family. Lillie was hands down the most amazing women ever. She was a maverick, she moved away with her husband, from the shelter of a close knit family in Ohio and dedicated her life to raising a family on a farm in northern Michigan. She was a farmer and raised 5 children in very difficult times! Looking back it was a miracle what she did! Money was very slim, yet we all were dressed wonderfully in the clothes she made and food was on the table because of the crops from the garden she nurtured. Its a wonder our family wasn vegetarian. Mom and Dads intention was to raise animals to provide food for the family, instead, they became pets, they were named adored and cried over when that time came. Mom was a tender Loving person. Each and every one of us learned how to Love unconditionally from her, and to value life. She was the best cheerleader for our accomplishments. Mom Loved to see us succeed, but never judged our failures. You could always count on Mom to have your back no matter what. Mom made life easier because of her ability to laugh easily she had the ability to listen without judgement, she was so young at heart. All the Grandchildren knew they could make her laugh and talk freely to her and get wise life advice. Mom was so much Fun to be around and was all of our very best friend. Mom was generous and kind, she was fiercely protective and loyal to her family. Besides loving us, Mom was an avid reader, as a child she had asthma and was unable to play with the other children. Her Dad was given a barrel of books and oh, the adventures and places she went. She had us laughing about some of the racy books she read. Mom Loved Music and singing, even in her wheel chair, when Pitt bull Im on fire came on, she couldn sit still! Her oldest son had 9 children, she created wonderful cherished memories with her Grandchildren especially during Christmas, with Christmas gifts surrounding the tree and homemade cookies and the fabulous joyous meals. Mom knew how to bring the warmth to home! What a legacy of Love! Mom cherished her time she spent with all of her Grandchildren and Loved them all beyond measure, she was so proud of all of them and viewed them as her precious wonderful legacy. Janice has invaluable memories of summer travels with Mom, but her most poignant and proudest memory is being there for Mom when she most needed her!!! Mom Loved Janice very deeply! Doug lived near Mom in Tallahassee. Every was Doug day they would spend Loving quality time together, she looked forward to her s with Doug. Doug was her solid rock all the way to the end. She always knew she could count on him and he never let her down. Jim was always special to Mom, he had to grow up so fast after the loss his father. He took his role as Man of the house seriously. She called him her Golden Child because of his hair. The most precious memory was how Jim and a friend made a car for Mom, she was both impressed and amazed at his ability. He did such a great job that the car virtually seemed to last forever. Sharon and Barry were extremely blessed and honored to have her live with them for the past 25 amazing years in Florida. She always used to say I was born to live in Florida. Life will never be the same without her! This loss is tremendous! Her Love for Children made her fight strong and hard through her illness and we believe that Love gave us more time to treasure with her. Our sorrow over her Loss is deeper than the ocean. But our Love for her is beyond infinity. I know with every breath we take she feels our Love. This is a celebration of her life and the treasure she still is in our hearts.
