Obituary: C.A. Cooksey passed away peacefully on , 9, 2015 surrounded by his family at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born on 21, 1925, in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School. high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably in Germany during WWII. He received numerous decorations including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. returning from the War, he attended the University of Florida where he began his long lasting love of the Florida Gators. C.A. made Tallahassee his permanent residence with his wife of 67 years, Mable Ashton Cooksey. He spent his professional career shaping the future of Tallahassees burgeoning skyline. He was employed by Culpepper Construction where he lead many crews in the building of several Tallahassee landmarks including Floridas Capitol Complex, Tallahassee Memorial s major additions and renovations, Doak Campbell Stadium and other Florida State and Florida A&M University structures. Following retirement, he continued his love of construction helping his family and friends. In C.A.s 89 years, his proudest achievement was providing for and raising nine accomplished daughters. C.A. never knew a stranger and welcomed all who crossed his path with a loving heart and open arms. C.A. was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Rossie Cooksey; his brothers B.J., Doug and Earl Cooksey, grandson Joseph Williams, and niece Susan Dodson. He is survived by his beloved wife Mable; daughters Carol Ann Cochran (Hank), Nancy Chavez (Mike), Kay Dick (Scott), Peggy Folmar (Mark), Cyndi Williams (Joe), MaryLu Winchester (Richard), Julie Fountain (Marcus), Mavis Clifford (Joey), and Jacki West (Judd). Along with his wife and daughters, he is survived by a sister, Mable Cooksey Boykin of Monticello, FL; 21 grandchildren: Grady Cochran, Steven Dennis (Teresa), Mehgean Willoughby (Geoff), Michele King (Alan), Alex Folmar (Kelly), Phillip Folmar (Hayley), Michael Chavez, Amanda Schultz (Eric), Sarah Meinhardt (Chris), Rebecca Brooks (Graham), Stephanie Clary (Luke), Ashley Fountain, Andrew Winchester, Lindsey Winchester, AnnaMarie Fountain, Angela Fountain, Taylor Clifford, Justin West, Alexandra Fountain, Heather Clifford, and Jordan West; 14 great-grandchildren and two on-the-way; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends , 11, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at Culleys MeadowWood on Riggins Road. service will be held , 12, 2015, at 1pm, Seminole Baptist Church, 3330 Mission Road, immediately followed with interment at Culleys MeadowWood on Timberlane Road. Obituary: Avadell (Bundy) Cooksey Avadell Cooksey passed away peacefully in her sleep on 11, 2016. She was born 20, 1921 in Odin, Illinois, daughter of Paul and Della (Deadmond) Bundy. She married Earl Cooksey in the Methodist church in Perryville, Missouri by the Reverend Edward J. Gale. Her husband, Earl Cooksey, preceded her in death after seventy years of marriage. She is survived by a son, Wayne Cooksey and wife Hazel of Florida, daughter Belva Hinthorn and husband William of Florida, grandsons, Jason Cooksey and wife Emma , Mason Cooksey and wife, Lanai , Scott Nelson, all of Florida, a granddaughter, Stacy and husband Greg VanBeek of New York, great granddaughters, Madeleine and Sophia VanBeek of New York, Rosie and Katie Cooksey of Florida, great grandson Zachary Nelson of Florida, brother, Verlin Bundy and wife Cay of Arizona, two sisters-in law, Shirley Bundy of Georgia and Rita Bundy of Illinois, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Delbert, Warren, Lowell Bundy and sister Louise Tate and brother-in-law Regis, sister-in-law Mildred Bundy, and an infant sister, Glenda Bundy. Obituary: Alex Cooks, 49, of Tampa, Florida entered into rest on , 9, 2015 surrounded by his wife, 4 sons and grandson, along with a host of family, loved ones and friends by his side. Alex was born in Loxley, Alabama and raised in Mobile, Alabama. He attended Troy State University where he was a player on the Trojans football team. He relocated to Tampa in 1985 and soon discovered his love of food and restaurant management. his introduction to the BBQ business, he along with his business partner, the late Jim Jimbo, opened Alex’s Southern Style BBQ, stable in Carrollwood since 1995. Alex was an active community member, always providing and dedicating his time to mentor and help anyone who was in need. Along with his friends, Elizabeth Brennan and Kim Miles, Alex began the non-profit organization, Alex’s X-Mas for Kids, in 1999. Since the organization began he, along with his wife, Aimee, have given away over 20,000 new bikes to youngsters in Hillsborough whose families may not have been able to provide a Christmas for their kids. Alex’s acts of kindness from mentoring, his philanthropic nature, to giving cars to people who needed it more than he gives testament to the impact he has had on all who knew him. Alex is an active member of the Chapel. CC Church where he served as an usher. Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Nellie Cooks and brother, McClinton Cooks Jr. Alex is survived by his wife, Aimee; sons, Alex Jr., Jorden, Chazz, Dewayne; grandson, Jorden Jr. Cooks; goddaughters, Shannon Banks, Mobile, AL and Danielle Frances, Tampa, FL; his father, McClennon Cooks Sr., Mobile, AL, Leroy (Doretha) Hawthorne, Tina (William) Cyprian both from Loxley, AL, Leonard “Tony” (Janice) Hawthorne, Pensacola, FL, Debora (Quinton) Holley, Curtis (Pamela) Cooks, Craig (Sharron)Cooks, from Mobile, AL, Cynthia (Lee) Tate from Salisbury, MD, Donna Cooks from Mobile AL.
