Obituary: William R. Clark, age 92, formerly of Ovid, passed away at his home in Port St. Lucie, FL under hospice care on , 16, 2016. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00pm on , 21, 2016 at Covert , 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on , at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ovid, prayers of committal with military honors will be held at St. Columbkille in Seneca Falls. Bill was born in Seneca Falls on 19, 1923, the son of Charles R. and Martha (McGraw) Clark. He graduated from Romulus Central School and attended Western Maryland . He served in the US Army during WWII in the 84th Infantry Railsplitters, and was held as a POW for 6 months, returning home with the rank of Sergeant in 1945. Bill had a long career in banking, serving as a bank director at First National Bank of Ovid, and then director and president of Glen National Bank in Watkins Glen, a career spanning from 1947 to 1983. He was very active in his community, as Ovid Fire Chief, Ovid Central School Board Member, Ovid Village Trustee, and a member of the Watkins Rotary and Elks Clubs. In 1984, he and his wife, Jane, retired to Port St. Lucie, Florida. spent considerable time with their daughters in Pennsylvania and Ohio, enjoying precious time with family and friends. Bill is survived by his daughters, Karen (Don) Alexander of Jersey Shore, PA and Joan (Rick) Tower of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, sister, Janice Scarrott of Romulus and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jane in 2008 and his sister Margaret Crane in 1960. |

Obituary: William R Clark 82, a resident of Redington Beach and West Chicago, IL passed away May 11, 2015 at Baycare Alliant Hospital in Dunedin FL. He was born in Canton IL to parents Dr. A.H. and Marion (Burmaster) Clark on 4, 1932. He was a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, and received his Masters from Bradley University. Mr Clark served with the US Army and was employed as the Director for the Food and Drug Administration, and retired at the position of Mid West Regional Director. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Shirley (Gray) Clark, daughters Christine Zimmerman and Karen Van Dyke, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Obituary: William Calfrey Clark, (called Calfrey by his family and Bill by his friends), age 95, died , 17, 2014, at his home in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded with the love and support of his children. Calfrey was the son of the late Flournoy C. and Minnie Anderson Clark.He was born into a Georgia pioneering family established in Laurens, Tattnall, Telfair and Montgomery (now Wheeler) Counties since the late 1700s. He was a World War II veteran attached to the 34th armored battalion stationed in Taunton, England. In 1944, his unit made land-fall in Cherbourg, France as part of the Normandy campaign. With his battalion, he followed Pattons 3rd Army all over Europe, participating in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. Following the war, he made his home in Jacksonville, Florida where he graduated from Jones Business . In 1949, he married Martha Marie Griggs from Unadilla, Georgia and they enjoyed 54 happy and loving years of marriage raising their 4 children in Jacksonville. In the late 1940s and 1950s, he worked as a floor manager for Sears & Roebuck when it was located on the corner of Market and Forsythe streets in downtown Jacksonville. Following his years at Sears, he was a store manager for McDuff Appliances for their Jacksonville Beach and Regency Square stores. In 1975, he started his own business, Clark Appliances on Ponce de Leon Boulevard in St. ine, Florida that is now owned and operated by his son, Don Clark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha in 2003 and his sister, Ouida Clark Sanger of Athens, Georgia and his two brothers, Robert Clark and Eschol Clark of Alamo, Georgia. He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Clark Williams and Mary Ann Clark both of Jacksonville, FL; his two sons, James Warren Clark (Karen) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Donald Elliot Clark (Maggie) of St. ine, FL; his 3 grandsons, Kevin Clark (Brittany) of Ann Arbor, MI, Brian Clark and Brad Clark both of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; his step-granddaughter, Savannah James of St. ine, FL; a brother-in-law, George Sanger of Athens, GA; a sister-in-law, Eugenia Clark of Alamo, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. services will be held at 2 PM , 22 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith in Unadilla, GA. Interment will follow in Walnut . Rev. James Aycock will officiate. The family will greet friends 11 AM - 12 noon prior to the service. Brannen-NeSmith of Unadilla has charge of arrangements. |
