Obituary: Robert Walter Christensen was born in Douglas, MI on 6, 1961 to Robert and Marisa Christensen. Robert or Bobby as he was more affectionately known grew up in Fennville and Holland, MI; however his love was always for Florida where he would visit his grandparents, Marie and Ove Christensen, in Jensen Beach every summer. He was an accomplished saxophone player by the age of 12 holding first chair throughout middle and high school. Although not a huge sports fan, he was an accomplished swimmer and ice skater in and on the many lakes and ponds that cover the Michigan landscape. In 1978, at age 17 he moved to Jensen Beach to live with his widowed grandmother where he completed Cosmetology school. He worked in various salons in south Florida from Lake Worth to Fort Pierce for many years providing original hair stylings and makeup for several prominent designer and modeling shows. In 1992, he moved to Acworth, GA to live with his brother, sister-in-law and two nephews. He remained in Georgia until 2004, but eventually found his way back to Florida and the Port Saint Lucie/Jensen Beach area. In 2006, while riding his bike home from work along U.S. 1 in Port Saint Lucie, Bobby was struck head-on by a pick-up truck and suffered massive, life-threatening injuries including the loss of his right leg. He was medevaced to Saint Marys Medical in West Palm Beach where he received no less than three complete blood transfusions and went into cardiac arrest on at least two separate occasions. But Bobby refused to give up; and although he remained in the ICU for many months, he eventually recovered well enough to return home. Although unable to work, he never gave up on his goal of total independence becoming as adept as a NASCAR driver on his electric-scooter. In 2008, he purchased his own home \ in where else? Jensen Beach, FL. He lived in his home until 2013 when his debilitating condition made it difficult for him to meet the physical demands of daily life. In 2013, he moved into Harbor Place, Port Saint Lucie where he flourished as the young man on campus. A very social person, he became quite the socialite engaging in many campus activities including his most prominent \ smoking and swapping stories with the other residents on the patio. He loved to eat and to cook and managed to whip up some pretty decadent dishes from time to time including homemade baked beans and cornbread, potpies, stuffed shells, and Spanish paella. He loved Star Trek (original series), Pomeranians, the beach, the Indian River, mac-n-cheese, a good hot dog, vodka martinis, and Benson & Hedges Ultra Menthol 100s. He also loved to travel making trips to Spain, France, England, Mexico, and throughout the Caribbean. Bobby is survived by his mother, Marisa Christensen of Port Saint Lucie, FL; his brother William, sister-in-law Shelly and nephew Chad Christensen of Holland, MI; his brother Richard, sister-in-law Laura and nephews Joseph, Nicholas and Andrew Christensen of Saint Leonard, MD; his Uncle Rick, Aunt Betsy and cousins Cari and Kelli Christensen of Tampa, FL; his Aunt Carmen, Uncle Miguel and cousins Marta and Eva Hacar, Aunt Lourdes and Uncle Jose-Luis Jimenez, and Aunt Mari-Jose and cousin Jaime Bermejo of Madrid, Spain. He was predeceased by his father, Robert and his nephew, Jeffrey. Bobby was generous, kind, and funny; and although his life was at times plagued with struggles, he was never one to give up. Bobby lost his struggle with renal failure on 16 2014 in his apartment at Harbor Place. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Obituary: Robert Francis Mannheim was born in Chicago, IL in 1935 to Walter and Marie Mannheim (Greeno). Adopted by his stepfather Ove Christensen, he changed his name to Robert (Bob) Christensen in 1941. Growing up in Chicago, he loved baseball and although a Cubs fan he got to play catch from time to time with White Socks second baseman Nellie Fox who lived in his building. He graduated from Austin H.S. in 1954; volunteered for the Army and served as a combat engineer and truck driver at various U.S. posts. He was transferred to France in 1956 where he served as a Military Policeman and was injured while protecting a school bus full of French children during a labor union uprising on the streets of La Rochelle. While visiting Madrid, Spain in 1957 he met the love of his life, Maria Luisa (Marisa) Sanz. He was transferred back to the U.S. and honorably discharged in 1958. He worked for two years to raise enough money to return to Spain to reunite with Marisa; and in 1960 they married in Madrid. The new couple moved to Fennville, MI where he served for several years as a policeman. There he fell in love with Ice hockey and co-formed a ragtag team of factory workers and school teachers who routinely challenged (and loss to) semi-professional hockey teams. Always good with his hands he built his own boat and even constructed his own mini ice rink in his backyard. He retired as a Tool and Dye foreman & auditor from General Electric in Holland, MI in 1982 and moved to Port St Lucie, FL to be near his elderly widowed Mother who resided in Jensen Beach, FL. He retired from Winn Dixie in Jensen Beach in 1998; which gave him an opportunity to enjoy his five grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marisa Christensen of Port St Lucie, FL; son Robert (Bobby) Christensen of Jensen Beach, FL; son William (Bill), daughter-in-law Shelly and grandson Chad Christensen of Holland, MI; son Richard (Rick), daughter-in-law Laura and grandsons Joe, Nick and Andy Christensen of Saint Leonard, MD; and Brother Rick Christensen of Tampa, FL. He was predeceased by his parents, Marie and Ove; his brother Walter and his grandson Jeffrey. Although the Chicago Cubs never won a World Series in his lifetime, he remained a loyal fan to the end. |

Obituary: Richard Allen Christensen, 86, of Cape Coral died 31, 2017 at his home. He was born in Montcalm, MI in 1930 to the late Raymond and Lelah Christensen. Richard served his country honorably with the US Airforce from 1948 to 1954. He lived in Michigan for many years. He retired from the Laundry and Dry Cleaning business in 1992 and began spending his Winters in Cape Coral. He was a member of Hunters Run Golf Club in Cape Coral for the past 25 years. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Marilynn, eight children; Leanne and Rex Christensen, Kay (John) Hudgins, Diane Forrester, Linda (James) Oldaker, Raymond (Lindy) Forrester, Carl Forrester, and Dawn (Scott) McGennis, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be celebrated 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Fuller Metz . The family will receive friends beginning at 1030 AM.
