Obituary: Nancy Lee Chesnut, 69, of Bradenton passed away 18, 2010 in Sarasota. Born 28, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, Nancy lived most of her life in Bradenton. She was a Nurse (LPN) at VA Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan and St. Petersburg and at Manatee Memorial Hospital, and did private duty nursing. She was predeceased by her father Warren Thomas and stepfather Edmond Johnson, brother Bill Thomas and daughter Gina Westbrook. She is survived by her mother, Georgia Johnson, children Mark (Cheryl), Richard (Kim) and Daniel Westbrook, and Elaina (Lee) Mills, brother Richard (Donna) Thomas, sisters Patricia (Donald) Ranta and Sandra (Dale) Weidemiller, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Obituary: Ludmila Petrovna Chesnokova passed away peacefully at home in Tallahassee on 6th, 2011, three months after being diagnosed with terminal-stage cancer. Ludmila was 86 years old and was married for 65 years to Nikolay Chesnokov. Ludmilas life was closely intertwined with the history of her country. She was born in 1925 in the Soviet Union. Her father, Petr Krapivin, was a priest at a Christian Orthodox church. She was the oldest of four children in the family. During early 1930s, because of Stalins repression throughout the country, her parents, sensing her fathers imminent arrest by the KGB due to his religious post, decided that it was the best for the family to flee the city. moved many times from one place to another. For the rest of his life, Ludmilas father and his children had to conceal from authorities the fact that he was an ordained priest. When Ludmila was only 16 years old, on 22, 1941, Germany announced war against the Soviet Union. Most of Ludmilas male classmates joined the Red Army, and most of them perished during the war. Ludmilas father joined the army as well and fought the Germans all the way to Berlin. Ludmila, at the age of 16, started working at a high-security Red Army ammunition plant. Following the war, in 1945, Ludmila moved to Odessa, a city on the Black Sea, where she was admitted to the citys university. There, soon thereafter, she met her future husband, Nikolay, with whom she spent the rest of her life - 65 years. Ludmila and Nikolay married in Odessa on 21, 1946. Ludmila and her husband lived in various regions of the Soviet Union - from Kazakhstan to Siberia to Moscow. Nikolay eventually became an eco-biologist and Ludmila earned a masters degree in Russian language education. For many years Ludmila taught language and literature courses to college students, by whom she was loved and admired. Ludmila and Nikolay moved to Moscow in 1984 to join their daughter, Irina, and their grandchildren. Ludmila became the primary caregiver to Irinas four children, allowing Irina to build a very successful career in journalism. Ludmilas grandchildren were practically raised by her and she was a huge influence on their lives. Ludmila was a devout grandmother who put all of her heart and soul into helping to raise her grandchildren, each of whom continued to maintain a very close relationship with her even after reaching adulthood. For the past fifteen years, Ludmila and Nikolay resided in the Moscow region, Russia, and frequently visited their daughter Irina, and their grandchildren, in Tallahassee. Ludmila is survived by her husband, Nikolay; her daughter, Irina Khankhasayev, and husband Mikhail of Tallahassee; four grandchildren: Ekaterina Tchourioukanov, Evgenia Waczewski and husband James, Alex Kahan, Nick Khankhasayev; and seven great-grandchildren. service will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church on Phillips Rd. on , 9, 2011 at 11:00 am.
