Obituary: On 28, 1943, Catherine Elizabeth Matassa was born in New York City, New York, to Salvatore and Catherine. She was a smart, beautiful baby, the firstborn in the family. When she was five years old Catherine contracted polio. She endured many surgeries over the years but overcame her disability and learned to walk again. attending high school at St. Michaels, Cathy took secretarial courses at Queens Community . On 28, 1968, she married the love of her life and soul mate, Frank Casabianca. had three children, Dina, Frank Jr., and Michele, and decided to move to Florida to escape life in the big city. While the kids were young Cathy was involved with Palm Bay Youth Softball Association, assorted PTOs, Palm Bay Soccer Association, and Boy and Girl Scouts. She was always very involved with the kids and attended every game and performance. As the kids got older Catherine was able to pursue her own interests \ Facebook, making jewelry, doing crafts, playing bunco, painting, going to garage sales, reading, and joining a Wii bowling league. And of course, her favorite pastime, CRUISING! She never met a stranger and was very active and involved in the community. Cathy volunteered for many organizations, including SHINE, Harris Retirees, Post-Polio Support Group, Greater Palm Bay Senior Citizen , and St. Josephs Catholic Church, where she was a member for more than 25 years. Cathy is already greatly missed by her husband of forty-six years, Frank Casabianca; daughter Dina Casabianca and her husband, Herb Fogg, of Palm Bay, FL; her son, Frank Casabianca, Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Denver, CO; her daughter, Michele Staffieri, and her husband, Butch, of Tallahassee, FL; her sister, Eileen Moraglia and her family, of Queens, NY, and her brother-in-law, Ronald Casabianca, of Queens, NY, who considered her a sister and friend. Catherine has six grandchildren, Frank, Bianca, Frank III (Trey), Dominic, Jonas, and Kit, who will dearly miss Grandmas hugs and Skype sessions. Please join us as we say Bon Voyage to Cathy and celebrate her life on , 18 from 6:00 \ 8:00 at Fountainhead in Palm Bay. We e going to do this the way shed want and eat dessert first! Obituary: Shirley C Cary (Caradine) passed away on 1st at Bon Secours Maria Manor, St. Petersburg, under the care of Empath Hospice. Born in Memphis TN, 13, 1929 to Robert E. and Virginia Skinner Caradine. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, John Richard Cary and her sister, Mary Margaret Mena (Stewart). She was an accomplished actor, artist and musician. Family and friends will always remember her beautiful voice and her love of singing. Shirley began singing in church at an early age. In 1951, she graduated with a degree in vocal music from Texas Woman’s University (formerly Texas State for Women). receiving her teaching certificate, she began her career teaching music in Laredo, TX. She returned to Memphis, TN and taught in the Memphis City School District (Sherwood Junior High), as musical director, drama coach and classroom teacher. Shirley produced very exquisite and elaborate productions, including The Wizard of Oz, Cheaper by the Dozen and many more. She was active in Front Street Theater in Memphis, starring in numerous off-Broadway musicals and operatic performances. retiring from teaching, she devoted her talents to directing choirs and performing in local theaters in Maryland, Michigan and Florida. Shirley and her husband were members of First United Methodist Church, Tampa, FL where she was the choir director for many years. Shirley epitomized Southern grace and charm. Her words and expressions were eloquent. She could capture an audience, and their hearts, in an instant. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Elmcroft ALF, Bon Secours Maria Manor , BrightStar Medical Staffing Agency and Empath Hospice. A very special thank you to her personal caregivers, Michelle, Cassandra, Sharise, Kiara and so many others. You were her voice when she could no longer communicate and her life advocates. Left to remember her are daughter, Heather C. Collins; grandsons, Sean (Jenilee) Grieco, Kevin Collins; great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Camden Grieco; god-daughter and life representative, Donna (Todd) Robbins. |
