Obituary: Agnes Martha Caithamer, loving wife of George Joseph Caithamer, and mother to Karen, David, and Glen was taken to Heaven on 8th, 2015 at age 85. She is survived by all 4 of her immediate family members. Agnes was born to Louis and Agnes Novak in Chicago, Illinois on 2, 1929. At age 19 she married her childhood sweetheart who had become a handsome sailor. Agnes and George spent the next 65 years and 8 months together as devoted spouses. Agnes came from a family of 8 children. She is survived by her brother John, whom she and others affectionately named Sonny. Her other siblings, Louis, George, Blanche, Millie, Helen, and Libby preceded her in death. Because Agnes was the youngest girl in the family, she is known as Babe to her siblings, nieces, and nephews. Besides their 3 children, Agnes and George have a loving son-in-law, Don, and daughter-in-law, Jackie, and 5 grandchildren: Amy, Natalie, Ryan, Jacob, and Benjamin. Soon after marrying, Agnes and George began their family and bought a home in Brookfield, Illinois, where they raised their children in a supportive, yet modest fashion. Vacations were summer trips to northern Wisconsin where they shared laughter and companionship with their children, grandchildren, and extended family. Every holiday was also a family celebration with overflowing quantities of home-cooking (most often traditional Bohemian style dishes), games, and laughter. Agnes and Georges family-focus widened with the arrival of each grandchild, which brought Agnes much joy. Agnes was a proud homemaker and mother. She was always compassionate, generous, and forgiving. She enjoyed cooking, and George and their children enjoyed the fine meals. Agnes also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, dogs, backyard wildlife, movies from the 1940s and 50s, and card games. She was a master of the card game Golf, which required memory skills. Her mind remained sharp right until the end. She was quick-witted with a tremendous sense of humor. Agnes was frugal and resourceful. She sacrificed material goods to insure her familys needs were always met. She saved for rainy days, but didn hoard. She valued cleanliness and honesty and was a good listener. She believed in God and the Catholic Church and prayed for her family and others who faced challenges. She always remembered birthdays and anniversaries. As she grew older, Agnes health declined, she lost mobility, and grew more dependent on George, Karen, and Don. She was grateful for their help and knew she was blessed, just as she has blessed them and her family and friends with her unconditional and unwavering love.
