Obituary: Rene Roger Cote, 87, of Dennisport, MA passed away on , 22, 2014. He was born 23, 1927, in Chicopee, Massachusetts to Emerile and Henrietta (Denette) Cote. His family moved to Jewett City, Connecticut when he was very young. On 10, 1945, he joined the Marine Corps achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He spent two years serving in China. On 3, 1949, he married Faustina (Nina) McAvoy in Pawcatuck, CT who passed away earlier this year on 20, 2014. leaving the Marine Corps in 1954, he and two of his brothers started Canterbury Metal Works. He later went on to work in the steel industry. He was a long time employee of the Shepard Steel and Elwell Iron Works. retirement, Rene enjoyed being an assistant recreation director at Pleasant Bay Rehabilitation in Harwich. Rene enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and traveling. He often reminisced about his trips to Japan and South America. He spent time on the planning board in Dennisport, Massachusetts where the Cotes made their home. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Edward, Roland, Samuel, Ulric, Wilfred, Clarence and Henry; a sister, Theresa Pac; a grandson, Winslow Gilman; and son-in-law, Guy Bourdeau. He is survived by his son Roger D. Cote of Greentown, PA; his daughters, Denise Bachand and her husband, Edward of Canterbury, CT, Renee S. Bourdeau of Lugoff, SC; as well as two grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A joint memorial service for Rene and Nina will be held on 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at the State Veterans in Middletown. Obituary: Rena (Caron) Cote, 76, of South Windsor, died peacefully on , May 09, 2016 at Manchester Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on 18, 1940 in Canada, daughter to the late Joachim and Albina (Dube) Caron. Rena was a graduate of Holy Ghost Academy in Tupper Lake, NY. She was married, divorced and later moved to East Hartford where she raised her family. Rena worked for Connecticut Mutual, G. Fox & Co., and the Savings Bank of Manchester. She was a selfless, caring and loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend who was loved by all. Rena touched and was remembered by everyone she met. Throughout her illness over the past two years she never complained, but was always concerned about everyone else. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. She leaves her children, Donn Cote of Bristol and Lori Egan and her husband Gerard of East Hampton; her brother, Raymond Caron of Meriden; her sisters, Louise Parent and her husband Richard of TX, Hughette Lemire of CA, Priscilla Thibeault and her husband Terrance of FL and Mona Kormylo of Glastonbury; her beloved granddaughter whom she cherished greatly, Emma Egan and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Edwina and brother, Percy. Her family will receive friends on , May 12, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon , 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Memorial Service will be held on , May 13, 2016, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Obituary: Lucille Cyr Cote , age 85, of Monroe, was born on 13, 1926 and passed away on 9, 2011 at Bishop Wicke in Shelton, CT. Born in St. Andre, NB, Canada, she was wife to the late Louis D. Cote and the daughter of the late Angele and Walter Cyr. She was predeceased by 2 daughters, Jane Hebert and Linda Soules and brothers Enoil, Clovis, Bertin, Stephen, Conrad, Yvon, Richard, Gilles and Camille Cyr. Survivors include her sons Raymond , Morris , Richard, John, and James and daughter Susan Arribas, her sister, Isabelle Carpenter and brothers Rene, Charles, Nelson and Walter Cyr and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, she had 16 wonderful grandchildren and 5 beautiful great-grandchildren, all of whom meant the world to her. Mrs. Cote was a long-time resident of Monroe. Widowed at a young age, she raised 8 children on her own. Though of little means, she was extremely generous and selfless, always taking the needs of her children over her own. Her greatest joy was to be with her family at her beloved home in Monroe, built by her late husband 55 years ago. She will be truly missed by her family and many friends in the community.A Memorial Mass for friends and family will be held at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, on , 16 at 10:00 am.
