Obituary: Mabyn Saxe Christianson, age 69, passed away on 10, 2016 after an epic standoff with ALS. Known as Bim to friends and family, she was a resident of Chester, for over 45 years and leaves behind many whose lives she touched with generosity, loyalty, and great love. Bim is survived by her best friend and husband of 50 years, Arthur Christianson, and her four children: Karen Christianson and Christopher Juhl, Kerry Christianson, Bonnie Brennenam (Doug), and Carl Christianson (Jolene). Additionally, she leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Reagan, Anne, Ella, and Joseph. She also leaves her sister, Nancy Saxe Patten (Donald) and her brother Frank Saxe along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins around the world for whom she felt immeasurable gratitude. And of course she will be deeply missed by her poodles: Chance, and John Denver. Hundreds of Chester families first met Bim when she was a teacher at Jack and Jill Nursery School, a job that energized, amused, and centered her as she helped to nurture so many wonderful children. When her own children were in school, she went back to college to become a registered dental hygienist, earning her degree from Tunxis Community . Her second year in dental hygiene spanned 17 years, ending as a hygienist at the Groton sub-base working as a private contractor for the Navy. Even in death, she compels all of you to floss regularly. Her retirement four years ago enabled her to submerge in her passion of quilting, joining in the community with other quilters, whose friendship meant so much. Those very friends were able to help her finish her final quilt just a week before she passed away. She has also been able to travel, garden, camp, and bake. Her proudest project was hosting a family reunion last summer to mark her 50th wedding anniversary. The Christianson family is so thankful for the support and compassion of Hospice , both at home and at Middlesex Hospital, as well as for all the love and encouragement from friends and family over the past four months. A memorial service will be held on 16, 2016 at 1PM at the Deep River Congregational Church at 1 Church Street, Deep River, CT 06417. Obituary: George Kostyra Christiansen, age 65, beloved husband of Margaret (Rita) Christiansen, of Fairfield, passed away suddenly on , 13, 2017. In addition to Rita, his devoted wife of 35 years, Georges memory will be cherished by his son, Kirk Christiansen, his daughter, Kristina Christiansen, and son-in-law, Barrett Miningham. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha Stewart, Kathryn Evans, his brothers, Eric Scott, Frank Kostyra, and brother-in-law Kevin Christiansen, as well as his aunt, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Martha Kostyra, and sister, Laura Plimpton. Born and raised in Nutley, NJ, George graduated from Rutgers University, and was a member of the Zeta Psi fraternity. A longtime resident of Fairfield, he was the president of Pequot Remodeling Corporation. During his 40 year career as a building contractor, George cultivated numerous longtime clients through his genuine desire to care for each of them. In his spare time he enjoyed many passions including golfing, fishing, world traveling, and visiting the vacation homes in Tanager, Norway and Puerto Vallerta, Mexico, especially when in the company of his dear friends and family. He also was a talented gardener and baker, often sharing pies he would make from the blueberries and other fruits he grew. He will be lovingly remembered for his strong devotion to family and friends, as well as, his kindness and generosity to his community. The family will hold a memorial service on , 25, 2017 at the Penfield Pavilion 323 Fairfield Beach Road, in Fairfield. will be receiving guests from 12-1 PM and will have private services for close friends and family immediately following. Obituary: Norma Jean Christiano of Greenwich, CT and formerly of Scarsdale, NY passed away on , May 2, 2015 at the age of 95. She was born in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of James and Anna Trapasso. She was predeceased in 2012 by her husband of 69 years, Albert. She is missed every day by their three daughters, Virginia (Ginger) Sillari and her husband Raymond of Scottsdale, AZ, Alice Flynn and her husband Robert of Southampton, NY, and Jane Alix and her husband Bryan of Westport, CT; her grandchildren Eric, Jean, Christopher, Scott, Johanna, Abigail, Daniel and Andrew; her great-grandchildren, Emily, Michael, Samantha, Christian, Phineas, Van, Avery, Ella Rae, and Florie Claire; her niece Patrice Galterio, her nephew Thomas Christiano and grand-nephew Jon Christiano. Norma was predeceased by her brother Ralph. Al and Norma moved to Greenwich after 42 years in Scarsdale, most recently residing at The Mews. Their daughters attended the Edgemont schools. Norma and Al were long-time members of the Scarsdale Golf Club. Norma was an active member of the Scarsdale Woman's Club and the Factotums, volunteered at the Scarsdale Woman's Exchange for many years, and filled her empty nest years working at her friend's shop, Jeri's, in Hartsdale. Norma and Al loved Southampton where they had a house for many years, and where they could spend happy times with family. passed many winters in Scottsdale, enjoying family and friends. Over the years they were also lucky enough to travel the world with their wonderful group of friends. Norma was everyone's favorite, but was especially the love of Al's life, with her big blue eyes and dimpled smile. met when they both worked in Manhattan at Forbes magazine and married two years later. Norma was very shy as a young woman and always credited Al with bringing her out of her shell, giving her the confidence to believe in herself. This led to her (painstakingly) teaching herself to sew and to knit, eventually becoming a truly accomplished hobbyist seamstress who was able to create anything from a simple dress to a tailored coat, and to knit complex patterns of every type. She always said she regretted that she was too shy to take lessons and so had to learn it all through trial and error, but she did! With her very acute eye for fashion, she always looked stylish and was always ahead of the trends. She had a very creative, inventive mind, and technology of any kind fascinated her. She had a computer in her 80's, sending emails and playing solitaire and bridge well into the night, marveling all the time at what she was able to do. She loved being with her family and friends, loved music, loved to dance, loved to entertain, famous for inviting any and all for Christmas Eve, loved her dogs, Amy and Maggie, and had a wonderful sense of humor that kept us all laughing. She was a blast to tease, as her grandchildren (those boys!) and her sons-in-law would all agree, and she loved that (and them), too. A celebration of Norma and her wonderful long life will be held on , Sept. 12 from 2:30 - 4 at the Leo Gallagher , Arch Street, Greenwich. Obituary: Linda Rose Christiani (Novitzky), age 59, of Monroe, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on , May 15, 2015, in her home under Masonicare Hospice Services after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Linda is survived by her loving husband Louis Novitzky of Monroe; three children, Matthew Novitzky, Jaclyn Flynn, and David Novitzky; devoted siblings, David and Charlotte Christiani of Massachusetts, Kathy and Tom Gniadek of Cheshire, Connecticut, Michael and Nancy Christiani of Virginia and Paul and Linda Christiani of Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on 29, 1955 and grew up in Easton, Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late Gladys and Leonard Christiani. Linda graduated from Joel Barlow High School with the class of 1973. She attended Fairfield University and graduated with a bachelors degree in Pre-Law Studies. She then furthered her education at the University of Bridgeport Law School. On 10, 1985, Linda married her soul mate. She was employed as an attorney at Willinger Willinger & Bucci for over 10 years. Linda was an incredible person, filled with energy and constantly on the go. The most important thing in her life was her family and having everyone together. She also enjoyed exercising, being outdoors, walking and gardening. Her laughter and sense of humor will be missed deeply. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated May 19th at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike Monroe.
