Obituary: Salvatore M. Cerreta, 91, of New Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully on 16, 2017. He was born in New Rochelle, NY on May 16, 1925. He was married to the late, Jean (Bird) Cerreta and the son of the late Michael and Lena Cerreta. Sal, formerly of New Rochelle and Mamaroneck, NY, had been a resident of New Fairfield for the past 28 years. Sal was a graduate of New Rochelle High School and Iona , and was a veteran of the 863d Antiaircraft Battalion of the US Army in World War II. Sal retired from the New Rochelle Hospital after over 40 years of service as the Comp Controller. In his youth, Sal worked as a pin-setter in the local bowling alley, where part of his pay included free bowling. Sal was very involved in athletics, playing football in his youth. He golfed until the age of 88; scoring 4 holes-in-one. Sals love of bowling continued well into his 70s; including bowling a perfect game of 300. He was an avid fan of New York sports teams, specifically the Yankees, Knicks and Giants. He always enjoyed drawing, and his chosen medium in his later years was oil on canvas. In his retired years, Sal spent the winters in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Other favorite memories included trips to country clubs throughout the Northeast, visits to Mohegan Sun, and Fathers Days celebrated in City Island, NY for fried seafood lunches. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and friend who was quick with a joke. Sal was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jean M. Cerreta and his brother Michael Cerreta. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Sally-Jean Ceretta and daughter-in-law Barbara Stump of Oakland, California; his daughter Pamela Jean McNally and son-in-law Brian McNally of New Fairfield, CT; his daughter Theresa Marie Siligrini and son-in-law Albert Siligrini of Lindenwold, New Jersey; and his three grandchildren Kaitlin, Kevin and Kerri-Ann McNally, who affectionately knew him as Poppy. Friends will be received from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Green , 57 Main St. Danbury, CT, on , 21, 2017. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00am at Mountain View , New Fairfield, CT, on , 22, 2017. Obituary: Jean M. Cerreta, 90, of New Fairfield, CT passed away on morning, May 11, 2015 at Glen Hill in Danbury with her family at her side. She was the wife of Salvatore M. Cerreta formerly of New Rochelle, NY. Born in Berwick, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry Bird and Pauline Rinker. Jean was a 1942 graduate of Berwick High School and received her RN from the New Rochelle Hospital School of in 1945. A RN at New Rochelle Hospital for over 30 years, Jean was recognized for taking care of the worlds smallest baby at that time. She later worked at the Sarah Neuman in Mamaroneck, retiring in 1985. Jean had been a resident of New Fairfield for the past 26 years, coming from Mamaroneck. She was a former member of St. Vito Church in Mamaroneck and member of St. Edward Church in New Fairfield, where she served as the parish nurse. She was an avid Yankees fan. Besides her husband, she is survived by her three daughters: Sally-Jean Cerreta of Oakland, CA; Pamela Jean McNally and her husband, Brian, of New Fairfield; and Theresa Marie Siligrini and her husband, Albert, of Lindenwold, NJ. She will be missed by her cherished grandchildren: Kaitlin, Kevin and Kerri-Ann. A Graveside service will be conducted , May 14, 2015 at 10AM at Mountain View , New Fairfield with the Rev. Nick Cirillo, Pastor, officiating. Friends will be received on , May 13, 2015 from 4pm -7pm at the Green , 57 Main St. Danbury. Obituary: Julian Michael Cerrato passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving mommy and daddy on 19, 2011. Julian was born on 8, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital. During his 9 weeks here on earth, he touched many lives and was deeply loved by his family and friends. Julian is the son of Michael and Elizabeth Dias Cerrato of Monroe and the brother of Lilliana and Lucas Cerrato. His paternal grandparents are Enzo and Loretta Cerrato of Trumbull and maternal grandparents Domingos and Maria Elisa Dias of Bridgeport. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Yale New Haven Childrens Hospital PICU and Bridgeport Hospitals NICU for the incredible care provided to Julian and the entire family. Obituary: Nancy Jean (Callahan) Cerra, 74, of Granby, beloved wife for 24 years of the late Nelson Anthony Cerra, Sr., passed away peacefully on , 18, 2015, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on 1, 1940, daughter of the late Harold and Edna Mae (Collins) Callahan, she was a lifelong resident of Granby. Nancy worked as an inspector for 18 years at Hamilton Standard before her retirement in 2009. She also worked for many years as a bus driver in the Granby and Windsor Public Schools. In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed camping in Rhode Island with her family where she would relax on the beach during the day and talk with her family and friends by the fire at night. Nancy was a talented artist and loved drawing, painting ceramics, sewing, quilting, and crocheting. Her work can be seen throughout her family and friends homes and was admired by everyone. Most of all, she will be remembered as a woman who loved her family. While she could be feisty and sassy, she was also very witty and funny. She leaves a son, Anthony Marco Cerra and his wife Sarah of Granby; two daughters, Heidi Lyn (Blomstrand) Inkel and her husband David of Windsor and Linda Mae (Blomstrand) Canady and her husband John of Laveen, AZ; two stepsons, Nelson Anthony Cerra, Jr. of Somers and Mark Anthony Cerra of Suffield; a sister, Judith Hart of Granby; seven grandchildren, Nelson Anthony Cerra, III, Zachary Cerra and his wife Serina, Annmarie Cerra, Kyle LaCasse, Amanda LaCasse, Estefania Canady, and Abraham Canady; several nieces and nephews; and her two faithful and loving companions Bella and Rocky who never left her side. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Gail Caye. Her family will receive friends on , 22, 4-7 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon , 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial will be private.
