Obituary: Doreen Ellen Chase 1/11/43 to 2/13/16. Doreen has a working time with Focus on the Family and Compassion International that spanned over a period of 18 years. She also did the office work that is associated with her husbands on-going constriction business that is now fifty years plus. She was a hands on person and in early years spent time working at the job sites. She was accomplished at home interior planning and design along with paint color coordination. Doreen was a good home maker. Along with her husband, she was a longtime member of the Pikes Peak Chapter of the International Studebaker Drivers Club, of which she had been recently installed as secretary. She enjoyed nature along with the birds and little animals that come with it. She also enjoyed interacting with people and helping out where she could. She was respected and loved by those who knew her. She is survived by her husband Earl, son Destry and brother Tom Stiglich Services will be held at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary 6630. Obituary: Donald O. Chase passed away on , 26 in Denver, Colo., following a courageous battle with Alzheimers disease. Don was born in Waterville, Maine on 30, 1940. He graduated from Madison High School in 1958 and served in the U.S. Navy for three years. He attended William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa where he played football and baseball, and graduated with dual bachelor degrees in physical education and sociology. Don earned a masters degree in physical education from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. Don married Nelda (Hull) Chase on 1, 1964, and they settled in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Don taught physical education for 32 years at Holmes Junior High, where he also coached football, basketball, and boys and girls track, and served as the athletic director for 19 years. He was a devoted husband and protective father who loved coaching football, and he made a positive impact on many of his students. Don had an incredible work ethic, and lived his life fully and with intention. He loved his family, enjoyed his work, maintained life-long friendships, and never backed away from a challenge. Don and Nelda retired from teaching in 1997 and moved to Madison, Maine to enjoy their summer home on the lake year-round. Don served as the head football coach of Madison High School from 1997 \ 1999. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Redington Memorial . Don enjoyed boating, playing in the dirt with his bulldozer, taking cruises, shooting pool with his buddies, lobster feeds, and he was a passionate Minnesota Vikings and New York Yankees fan. He is survived by his wife, Nelda, daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Justin Baum of Denver Col.; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Kiffin Deihl of New Prague, Minn.; grandchildren Emma and Maizie Deihl, and Chase and Delaney Baum; and sister, Shirley Brehm of Saratoga, Calif. He is preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Ida (Beaulieu) and his brother, Lee. Visiting hours will be held on , 9, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards , 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A funeral service will be held on 10, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Skowhegan Federated Church, Island Ave., Skowhegan, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill in Madison. Obituary: Florence (Flossie) Charvat, 93, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died on 30, 2015 at Life of Westminster. Florence was born on May, 4, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Lawrence and Julianna Tomczak. She was united in marriage to Stanley T. Wasik, on 5, 1943 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on 5, 1979. Later, she had the honor of being united in marriage to Joseph F. Charvat on 20, 1981 in Hudson, Florida. He preceded her in death on 2, 1990. To say she was a strong, resilient, and independent person would be an understatement. We called her the EverReady Bunny because of her endless energy. Among other things, she was an excellent cook. One of her many specialties was homemade polish sausage and sauerkraut. She also made kolaches during the holidays and endless pots of chicken noodle soup. Flossie loved projects and accomplishing things. No shrub or bush was ever the same after she gave it their springtime haircut. She had many friends wherever she lived, whether in Chicago, Illinois, Florida, or, recently in Colorado. She looked forward to playing weekly cards with her new found friends in Colorado and would occasionally let the rest of the family win at 3-13. Flossie was always ready to lend a helping hand where needed. She volunteered at places needing help, including hospitals in Denver. She also worked as a caregiver for several years after moving to Colorado. She was a life-long member of the Catholic church. She is survived by her four daughters, Susan Reiter (Dennis Hutchens) of Crown Point, Indiana, Joanne Cosgrove of Valparaiso, Indiana, Kathleen (Al) Albin of Terrebonne, Oregon and Valerie Spink (William) of Ft. Collins, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Eric Reiter, Jason Reiter, Todd Cosgrove, Robert Spicer, Rebecca Leone, Bryan Weinman and Jennifer Weinman, and 8 great grandchildren; and sister, Pearl Hickey of Clearwater, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and brothers, and her in-laws, Valentine and Mary Wasik. The family would like to give special Thanks to the caring and loving staff at Life of Westminster for treating our mom as though she was a member of their own family. A memorial service will be held at Life of Westminster on 13th at 2 p.m. We love you, Mom! Till we meet again... |
