Obituary: Charles Antoine de La Chapelle Sr., was born in Chicago, Illinois, 20, 1922, to Jeannette and Jacques de La Chapelle. He died 7, 2010, at home. He grew up with his sisters, Zo Lord (Carmel, CA), and Renee Perna (Madison, WI) in Chicago, enjoying outdoor sports. graduating from Portsmouth Abbey Priory, Rhode Island, He attended Amherst . In 1941, he interrupted his education to enlist in the US Navy. He served as a dive bomber pilot in the Pacific and was proud of those with whom he served and his country. Following the war, he returned to complete his education at the University of Iowa. During these years he developed an interest in agriculture and chose to move West. He purchased land in the Yakima Valley on the Roza, pushed out the sagebrush and ultimately planted apples and pears. He loved the hard work and watching things grow. He loved sharing his crop with friends and family. He was most thankful for all of the loyal and dedicated employees who helped get the important work done. Charlie was the first chair of the Yakima Clean Air authority, whose task it was to improve the air quality; the biggest problem was the use of smudge pots, of which he had many, and they succeeded in significantly reducing the smoke from Valley orchards. He was a founding member of the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission, serving from its inception for many subsequent years as treasurer. He also served numerous years as Chairman of the board of YVCC. He was a lifelong member of the Washington State Horticultural Association and the Yakima Pome Club, whose members and meetings he greatly enjoyed. He married Carol-Anne Gilbert in 1952, with whom he had 5 children: Catherine Allan (Medina), Charlie de La Chapelle, Jr., Renee Hough (Spokane), Jacqueline Hansmann (San Francisco) and Joanna Cable (Spokane). He is also survived by his two sisters, nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Charlie faithfully attend mass at St. Paul Cathedral there most of his life. His greatest joy was his family. He loved his many friends, too, and delighted in eating and laughing with them all. Chief amongst his hobbies were gardening, crossword puzzles, and laughing through life. Obituary: Mario Cesar Chapa Salezar, age 59, of Othello Washington, passed into our Lords Hands on 13th, 2014 at Hospice at the Chaplaincy in Kennewick Washington. He was born in Fronton Texas on 22nd, 1955 to parents, Paulina and Genaro Chapa. Mario grew up, attended school, and graduated high school in Mexico. He worked as an operator in a food processing plant. He was a Christen, an avid reader, and a hard worker. Mario read so much, encyclopedias from cover to cover, christen books, and the Bible, to name a few. He was introverted; keeping to himself for the most part, until he traveled to go on vacations with his sister Lucinda. Touring the city of San Antonio Texas together was one of Marios most treasured memories. He will be dearly missed. Mario is survived by his sister, Lucinda Hernandez of San Antonio Texas, and brothers; Genaro Jr., Hugo, and Hector. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, David D. Obituary: Jack Arthur Chantrey, 88, of Clyde Hill died 31, 2011, after a long battle with lung disease. He was born in Lake Forest, IL, 2, 1922, to Frederick Arthur Chantrey and Racine Crane Chantrey. During WWII he left Oberlin to serve in Europe with Pattons 3rd Army Armored Division Engineers. He returned to graduate from Oberlin and then spent 5 years in the Far East with 1st National City Bank during General MacArthurs American occupation of Japan. He returned to the United States joining Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, MI and then met his future wife, Patricia Locken, while working at Bucyrus Erie in Milwaukee, WI. were married in 1966. In 1971 he joined PACCAR Inc. as Vice President and Treasurer, helped create PACCAR Financial Corp., and retired as a Senior Vice President. He was a lifelong lover of the game of golf and enjoyed being a member of Seattle Golf Club and Broadmoor Golf Club. He was one of the first members of the Investment Advisory Committee at Seattle Childrens Hospital and was an active member of the Bellevue Rotary Club. He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 45 years, his daughter Kirstin Chantrey Morgan (Dennis), his son Crane Locken Chantrey and grandsons, Jack Morgan and Brandon Morgan. A memorial service will be held , 17th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Medina. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Seattle Childrens Hospital are requested in Jacks name.
