Obituary: Cathy Allen Cyrus, 54, of Rustburg, went home to be with Jesus and the angels, with her family at her side on , 05, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of David Cyrus, Sr. Born in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Eaton Allen and the late Frances Goodman Allen. Cathy was a faithful member of Calvary Cross Baptist Church. She loved watching wildlife and taking long rides in the mountains. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jamie Irby and his wife, and Jason Irby and his wife, Cindy; step children, David Cyrus, Jr., Michael Cyrus and Brittany Cyrus, all of Rustburg; a sister, Brenda Shelton and her husband, Dana, of Gretna; father-in-law, Thomas Cyrus and his wife, Mildred, of Appomattox; Lloyd T. Mawyer, Jr. and his wife, Margie, of Richmond; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Patty Anderson, Cathy Young and Centra Hospice for their compassion and love for Cathy. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., , 8, 2011, at Whitten Timberklake Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., , 7, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. |
