Obituary: Opal Rebecca (Coiner) Clements of Stuarts Draft passed away , 14, 2015 at Birch Gardens in Staunton. Born 16, 1918 in Sherando, she was the daughter of the late George Franklin and Beulah Frances (Hayden) Coiner. Opal was a lifetime member of Sherando United Methodist Church. As a faithful church member she served as the pianist/organist for 60 years, taught School, was active with the Church Women United and was a supporter of the Weekday Religious Education. She was a tremendous cook and enjoyed tending to her flower beds. She was an active member of the Stuarts Draft makers Club for many years. Those who knew her will remember her as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Clements on 4, 2012; daughters, Connie Marie Clements and Alice Fay Clements; son, Eugene Clements; two sisters, Mary and Angie Coiner. Survivors include her loving children, David Franklin Clements and wife, Barbara of Stuarts Draft and Nancy Clements Swartz and husband, Fred of Bridgewater; daughter-in-law, Karen Clements of Mississippi; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Franklin Coiner of Sherando; sister, Helen Coiner Gochenour of Crimora; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Clements Whiteside of Vesuvius and Gloria Clements of Camden, SC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on , 17, 2015 at Sherando United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred W. Swartz and Rev. Sarah Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sonny Cox, Tim Ketten, Chass Clements, Cory Clements, Tommy Coiner and Val Gochenour. Honorary pallbearers will be her other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on , 16, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick s, 618 W. Obituary: Ollie LaVerne Clements, born 16, 1936, (or 24, 1936 depending on whether you believe her birth certificate or her family), left this earth for her eternal home with our Lord Jesus on , 13, 2015. This amazing woman was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Dora Carver; her brothers, Wayne and Russell Carver; and sister, Ann. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Grover Clements; her children, Bill Clements, Bob Clements, Andy Clements, and Dan Clements; daughter-in-laws, Brenda Clements, Deb Clements, and Mary Clements; grandchildren, Kim Clements, Bill Clements, TC Clements, Josh Clements, Gabe Clements, Shane Clements, Ray Clements, Joel Chamberlain, Jake Chamberlain, Jared Chamberlain, and Casey Clements; her beloved sisters, Evelyn (Pat) and Carolyn (Wimpy), as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and hundreds of friends that enjoyed her love and kindness. In addition to being an excellent wife and mother, LaVerne was a graduate of Albemarle High School and Martha Jefferson School and served as a LPN for many years at Martha Jefferson Hospital and at the American Red Cross. She was proud to have taken up tap dancing, piano lessons and a computer course as an adult and especially proud of attending the Republican National Convention and meeting Elizabeth Taylor and John Warner. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was also a member of the Republican Women’s Club as well as a regular poll worker. She also enjoyed helping with the 4H Club and enjoyed participating in the Red Hatters as well as attending “Cousins Day” on a regular basis. She also served on the Women’s Auxiliary at the North Garden Fire Department. LaVerne was also working on a children’s series called Angel-Ethel. She would read these stories to her grandchildren as they were growing up. This fond memory will be sorely missed. Known by all for her loving ways and compassion, she especially enjoyed helping others with prayers and sound advice. She never met a stranger and through the years has impacted the lives of hundreds of people who enjoyed the warmth of her friendship. An excellent cook and baker, she blessed anyone who came to her home with homemade pies, cakes and cookies. Her presence in the lives of all who knew her was a tremendous blessing and her absence will make our world a little less bright till we meet her again. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. , 18, 2015, at the Teague Chapel. Pastor Tim Worley will officiate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Margaret Armistead. She was a lifelong member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church where she played the organ for 54 years. Obituary: Mildred H. Clements, 70, of Madison Heights, went to be with her Lord, , 7, 2017. She was the devoted wife of John D. Clements, III for 49 ½ years. Born on 16, 1946 Mildred was the daughter of the late Wilson Junior Hartless and Ollie L. Morris and the late Leonard Dale Morris. Mildred was preceded in death by one son, J. D. Clements IV. In addition to her husband, Mildred is survived by two children, Walter C. Noel Jr. and wife Beth and Jeffrey Scott Clements; and a grandson, Ryan Noel; and four brothers, Wayne Hartless and wife Sharon, Phillip Morris and wife Scarlett, Dale Morris and wife Nancy, Tim Morris and wife Paula; and a number of nieces and nephews and extended family. Mildred was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement five years ago Mildred was employed twenty one years by Temple Christian School. She often shared with others some of her many experiences with the employees and students. Her love for Christ was shared to all in a loving and caring manner. A celebration of Mildreds life will be held 1 PM, , 10, 2017, at Temple Baptist Church, Madison Heights, VA with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh officiating.
