Obituary: Ralph Carrington Cason, 91 of Charlottesville passed away , 11, 2014. Born 18, 1923 in Charlottesville, Virginia, the son of the late Mary Lee Pittman and Leonard E. Cason, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Lee H. Cason and Charles C. Cason; brother-in-law, Ralph D. Roberts. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Pamela C. Brezinski and husband Buzz; two granddaughters, Ashley E. Maynard and her husband Terry, Christen V. Brezinski; four great grandchildren, Garrett, Kellan, Landon, and Emmalyn Maynard; five siblings, Leonard Ezra Cason, Jr. and wife Isabelle, William C. Cason and wife Carolyn, Jackson P. Cason and wife Barbara, George A. Cason, Sr. and wife Hazel, and Nancy Cason Roberts. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ralph served his country as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy in World War II on the U.S.S. Chester through seven major battles. his time in the Navy, Ralph managed Piedmont Cleaners, Fry’s Spring Beach Club, worked with Bullock Corporation, and other business ventures. He was an avid collector and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. A special thank you to all the home caregivers and friends, Aileen Chua , Patty Gore, Red Herring, Christen Brezinski, and Betty Roberts. A very special thank you to Irene Woodward for all her years of dedication to Ralph and his family. Also, thank you to the staff at The Lodge at Old Trail for all the care and loving support, and the doctors and nurses at The University of Virginia Medical . Obituary: Marjorie Dell Cason, 73, of Stuarts Draft passed away on , 22, 2017 at her home. She was born 15, 1944 in Washington, D.C. Marjorie was a member of Piney Mountain Bible Chapel, Roseland. For over 25 years she was employed by Wendys Family Restaurant (Tavern on the Green) where she worked as a waitress/cook and later as a Custodian Supervisor for Western Albemarle High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her African grey parrot, Abby, quilting and sewing. She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Lee Ramsey and her mother and step-father who raised her, Madeline (Arbaugh) Robertson and George Robertson. Survivors include her children, Michael P. Fitzgerald of Roseland, Virginia C. Fitzgerald of Stuarts Draft and Danny Lee of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Brent F. Painter, Chaz D. Fitzgerald, Brittany F. Painter and Chelsea (Fitzgerald) Rose; great grandchildren, Xavier, Ashton, Kalem, Letty, Fenix, Tyson, Blake, Baleigh, Zane, Harley, Layla and Khye; siblings, Milton Lee Ramsey and wife, Rebecca of GA, Nancy Dill of Stuarts Draft, Lindia Miller and husband, Bobby of FL and Lois Snell and husband, Victor of Waynesboro; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on , 28, 2017 at Thornrose with Pastor Robert Mansfield, Jr. officiating. Anyone who plans to attend is asked to meet directly at the cemetery. Obituary: LEE BERTOLET CASON (Age 91) Of Alexandria, VA died on , May 19, 2015 at INOVA Mt. Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, VA. Lee was born 12, 1924 in Berkeley, CA and raised in Oakland, CA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Florence Russell Cason; a son, Howard Cason; and grandson, David Sprague. Lee is survived by his children, Barbara Cason of Alexandria, VA, Donna Sprague of Fredericksburg, VA and Donald Cason of Alexandria, VA; two grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a younger brother, William Cason of Osprey, FL; many nieces and nephews. Lee retired from the U.S. Army after serving 22 years on active duty in various countries around the world. During World War II, as a 20 year old Private First Class in the 4th Infantry Division, Lee landed on Utah Beach in Normandy, France as part of the D-Day invasion. He also fought in the Battle of the Bulge; and at the conclusion of the war, helped liberate a Nazi concentration camp. Lee was awarded two Purple Hearts for injuries he sustained in World War II. Relatives will receive friends at the Demaine , Alexandria, VA on , 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at Arlington at a later date. |

Obituary: Hugh E. Casey Cason, Jr. passed away 24, 2017 at home in Colonial Beach, Virginia. He was born 23, 1929 in Alexandria, Virginia. Casey is the last of nine siblings. He leaves his wife Jacqueline Jones Cason, three sons, Hugh Rusty Cason (Kimberly) of Knoxville, Tennessee, David Kern (Cathy) of Lake Anna, Virginia, Robert Pat Kern (Michelle) of Youngsville, North Carolina, a daughter, Darlene Murphy (Frank) of Alexandria, Virginia, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three nephews, Eddie, Bobby and Jimmy Lawrence and a niece, Margie Sillimen. Casey served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1984, a Captain in the Alexandria Fire Department after 30 years of service. Casey was a member of: Colonial Beach Lions Club, Moose Lodge #1267, American Legion #148 and a charter member of Eagles #4315, all in Colonial Beach. Obituary: Hilda Hope McCauley Cason died , 24, 2015 at the age of 87. Hope, as she was known, was the 12th and youngest child of Minnie Wright Thurston and Ernest Linwood McCauley. She was born 18, 1928 at Martha Jefferson Hospital, and remained a lifelong resident of Charlottesville and Albemarle until she spent the last 4 years of her life in a small adult care home in Louisa. Hope’s mother died when she was 3 years old and she grew up very close to her Daddy and siblings. She lived near Proffit and attended school in Earlysville before moving to Crozet to live with her brother, Vivian, and family. She and her father eventually moved to Charlottesville and lived with her sister, Irene, and family, while she attended Lane High School. Hope met her husband, Lee H. Cason, while she was working at Timberlake’s and later worked for the phone company. Hope and Lee were married at Hinton Avenue Methodist Church on 3, 1947. Their daughter, Carolyn Dawn, was born in 1954, and a second daughter, Dixie Lynn, was born in 1957. Their infant son, Lee H. Cason Jr., died in 1958. Hope’s husband Lee died Jan. 9, 1982. Hope is survived by her daughter, Carolyn, and her husband William Alfred Talley Jr., their daughter Cason Hope, and Alfred’s children Will and Laura and their families. She is also survived by her daughter, Dixie, and her husband Lawrence D. Peterson Jr., and their children Hunter Lee and Emily Dawn, and Emily’s children Tyler and Cierra. Hope was known as Nana to her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Hope was predeceased by all of her siblings: Vivian McCauley (Virginia), Irene Reed (Claude), Dora Garrison (Buster), Elmore McCauley (Ella), Waverly McCauley (Pate), Phyllis Powell (Thomas), Adgile McCauley (Willard), Muriel Wood (James), Daniel McCauley (Sarah), Jean Rea, and Rudolph McCauley. Her paternal grandparents were Sallie Baker Crenshaw and George Washington McCauley. Her maternal grandparents were Dora Dean Wood and Elmore Pendleton Thurston. She is survived by McCauley nieces and nephews: Linwood, Irving, Joel, and Richard McCauley, Shirley Cook, Claude Reed, Jr., Jean Cary, and Delores Morris. When Hope married Lee she became part of the Cason clan. She was predeceased by Lee’s parents, Mary Pittman and Leonard Cason, and Lee’s brothers, Charles and Ralph Cason and brother-in-law Ralph Roberts. She is survived by Leonard Ezra, Jr. (Isabel), Charles’ widow, Frances, Bill (Carolyn), Jack (Barbara), and George (Hazel) Cason and Nancy Cason Roberts, as well as numerous Cason nieces and nephews. Betty Lee Roberts is a special niece that Hope cared for as a young child. Hope was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She proudly served as president of the Robert E Lee Elementary School PTA and Rock Hill Academy Booster’s Club.
