Obituary: Ethel Norma Morris Devey Christensen Our loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away 25, 2014 at the grand age of 104. Ethel was born 16, 1910 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George Washington Morris and Harriett Barrett. She married Wallace Devey 1, 1934. later divorced. Ethel married Lloyd Chris S. Christensen 9, 1947. were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple and were married for 41 years until the time of Lloyd's death in 1988. Ethel worked as a youth in the family owned grocery store gaining many skills and values that served her well all her life. She graduated from West High School. Both her parents passed away when she was 21 years old, leaving her and her brother in charge of the family store. She later owned and managed apartments and a dairy farm with her first husband. During her life she also worked as a clothing retail manager, a secretary and a bookkeeper. She loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in the young women program as secretary, counselor and president. She also served and played beautifully as the Relief Society pianist and ward organist for over 20 years. Lloyd and Ethel were members of the Hillside Ballroom Dancing Club and the Daughters and Sons of Utah Pioneers. age sixty Ethel learned to drive a car and play the organ. She and Lloyd enjoyed many vacation tours around the United States and were able to visit most every state. Ethel was very artistic and created beautiful work in china porcelain painting, portrait drawing, sewing, and crafts. She was well known for her delicious cooking from scratch and for her beautiful knitting and crochet work with smooth even stitches. She made 30 afaghans and numerous baby shawls, pillows and other items with which she generously gifted to family and friends. Lloyd would often say, If heaven doesn't have yarn, Ethel is not going to like it there. She loved her family and brought them together through holiday dinners, picnics in her backyard summerhouse, family reunions, and helped publish family stories and histories. Her cookie jar was always full and her arms were always open for hugs. You often left her house with an armfull of preserves or other homemade treats. Ethel was proud of living to the age of 104 and after a long separation from her parents, brother and husband, she has now joined her loved ones in a great reunion in heaven. We will dearly miss her until we meet again. Preceeded in death by her parents, brother Wayne and his wife Larsene, husband Lloyd, Lloyd's daughter Evelyn and granddaughter Julene and his daughter Carol. She is survived by her children Dianne (Wayne) Simister, Roger Chris Christensen (Janice y), and Linda (Michael) House; 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, one niece-Myrna (Don-deceased) Chadwick, 2 nephews-Craig (Karen) Morris, and Mark (Carol) Morris, Lloyd's children, Levoy Bud (Linda-deceased) Christensen, Denece (Curt) Larsen, and Lloyd's 14 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. When Ethel married Lloyd she claimed his children as her own. She dearly loved us all. The family would like to thank the Holladay and Brighton Hospice for their excellent tender care. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm evening, 3, 2014 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive in Salt Lake City and funeral services will be held at the same address on 4, 2014 at 11:00 am with a viewing at 10:00 am. |

Obituary: Our beloved husband and father, Ellis Edward Christensen, was born 22, 1945, in Rupert, ID, and died on 2, 2016, at home in West Jordan, UT, due to complications from his 33 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was the third of four children [siblings Margo (Jay), Lyle (Bonnie) and Kim (Tyna)] born to Lund and Thelma Bowen Christensen of Heyburn, ID. graduating from Minico High School in 1963, he attended Utah State University on a music scholarship, playing the bass in several top groups. He served an LDS mission to the Northern Indian Mission working with the Sioux, Crow, Cheyenne and Shoshone Indians. While in San Francisco learning the art of court reporting, Ellis met Estela E. Guzman from Rosario, Argentina. were married 12, 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple. were blessed with seven children: Cynthia (Michael) Patience of Prescott, AZ; Gina (JD) Williams of Carmel, IN; Clinton (Megan) Christensen of Sandy, UT; Trent (Sherie) Christensen of South Jordan, UT; Bridget Marian Christensen; Kurt Christensen of SLC, UT; Edlyn Christensen of Logan, UT. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Lyle, sister and brother-in-law Margo and Jay, daughter Bridget, and granddaughter Elizabeth (Lizzy) Christensen. Ellis and Estela have 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. lived six years in Washington D.C., while he worked for the D.C. Superior Court and then moved to SLC in 1977 where he worked in the U.S. District Court until his retirement in 1993. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many capacities, most visibly with his talent playing the organ and piano and conducting music. He will be remembered for his infectious laughter, love of his family and his constant and uplifting optimism - even despite his physical challenges. Services will be held , 8, at noon with a viewing at 9:30 a.m. at the Sycamores 1st Ward, 6592 W. Haven Maple Drive, West Jordan, UT 84091. Obituary: Eleanor F. Christensen (Grandma Toots) passed away peacefully with her son Carl at her side morning, 31, 2014. She was born Feb. 20, 1925 to Lucy Love and Ernest Carl Fullmer. She attended South High School and the University of Utah. She received a degree in education and belonged to Alpha Kai Omega. graduation she taught 1st grade at Roosevelt Elementary. She married Jay Lidell Christensen in the Salt Lake Temple on 19, 1947. Eleanor was an amazing woman. She moved many times during her marriage and did so with a smile on her face. She packed up, moved to a new house and always made a home for her family. Moving was always an adventure for her, she loved making new friends; joined New Comers, the Welcome Wagon and became involved in neighborhood activities. Jay retired, they bought a cabin in Star Valley, Wyoming and spent many wonderful summers with friends and family. Her grandchildren thought that was the est place for vacation. She belonged to a study group, The Order of the Cross. She traveled with this group extensively. bought her great piece of mind. She is survived by, the sister-in-law Cherril, her son Carl Andrew, her daughters Julie (Ted) and Elizabeth (Wayne), her grandchildren Amy, Jason, Nikki, Katie, Allison, John, Kelly, Jeff and seventeen great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Atria for their kind and loving care. We would also like to thank Horizon Hospice for making her last days peaceful and dignified. Friends and Family may visit from 6-8:00pm , 5, 2014 at Wasatch Lawn (3401 S Highland Drive).
