Obituary: Merry Lee Carter 1926~2011 Merry Lee Carter, 84, passed away on 25, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Monroe, Louisiana, Merry had a passion for life, her family and God. She loved Church and she loved to sing. She sang in the church choir and regularly called family members to sing Happy Birthday - even if it was a month to soon! She was an amazing cook - ensuring anyone that was hungry had a plate to eat. Her name defined her as Merry was a happy person that shared her joy by making people laugh with her own laughter, big smile, jokes and hilarious comments. She loved to watch professional wrestling and was known to have a crush on The Rock and Hulk Hogan. You could also find Merry watching Little House on the Prairie with Tommy (her fat cat). She loved holidays and knew how to make Christmas fun - knowing exactly what to buy each of her children. Merry was a character and would sneak food regardless of her medical restrictions. One day, she was found cooking pork chops. Her excuse Im tired of eating chicken. Merry was a strong and devoted woman. Despite the challenges she raised seven children: she never dated and never remarried after losing her soul mate. Obituary: Marquard (Mark) Dale Carter passed away on 8, 2014, with his wife, Diane, by his side. He slipped away peacefully at the age of 60 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was an honorable man who loved God, family, and his fellow man. Mark was born on 17, 1953, in Los Angeles, California. He was the third of five children born to Nannadale Nannette Storrs and Harold Dean Carter. He is survived by his siblings -- Ron, Ren, Cassie, and Jim. Marks family moved frequently in his youth and eventually settled in Provo, Utah, when Mark was 16 years old. Mark served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Chicago, Illinois area. Mark returned to Provo after his mission, and he married Debra Lynn (Debbie) Atterton in the Manti Temple on 12, 1975. Mark worked as an electrician at Brigham Young University (BYU) for over 30 years, ultimately becoming a master electrician. Mark was always a tireless worker and loved working with his hands. His ultimate project was the home he built in Woodland Hills, Utah, where he and Debbie raised their eight children -- Jarad, Kelly, Shawn, Shelly, Katie, Becky, Heather, and Cheryl. He is now reunited with his wife Debbie, who also suffered from cancer and passed away on 19, 2003. Mark is survived by Diane, whom he married on 6, 2004, in the Mount Timpanogas Temple. worked hard to unify their two families, now affectionately known as the Big Fat Bunch. Mark loved Dianes children -- West, Danielle, Sam, Cody, Dylan, and Kendal -- as his own. Mark had 10 in-laws that he considered to be his children as well. He adored his 30 grandchildren, and they likewise adored their Grandpa Pops. His posterity will continue to grow and honor his diligent faithfulness as a loving, righteous husband, father and friend. Mad-dog Carter, a nickname his best friend Ken Shock gave him, will be missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. Mark had a witty personality that included frequent puns, and he really knew how to tell a joke! He was a BYU man through and through, and on more than one occasion he expressed to family and friends what a blessing BYU had been for him and his family. Diane and many of his children have graduated from, or are currently studying at, BYU. The most important things to Mark Carter were his faith in Jesus Christ, his family, and his friends. He was a stalwart husband, father, grandfather, friend, and colleague. All those who have been blessed to know Mark are grateful for his example, his faith, his service, and his pure friendship. He will be missed, but not forgotten. Services will be , 13, 2014, 11:00 in the Edgewood Chapel, 3500 North 180 East, Provo. Friends may visit with the family that morning from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in the Salem City .
