Obituary: FORT WORTH -- At the age of 83, Yoko Tamura Crothers, died , 23, 2012 at Universals Hospice House in Ft. Worth. Services: Will be held at a later date. Yoko was born 20, 1928 in Seoul, Korea; she was the only child of the late Tsuyo and Toichi Tamura. Yoko and Bill Crothers were married at the American Embassy in 1955 in Fukuoka, Japan. Yoko and Bill moved frequently as Bill was in the US Army. During those many moves, Yoko made each home special. Throughout her life, she devoted most of her energy to her husband, daughter and her daughters family. In the first years of her married life she worked at Ohio State University as an interpreter. Later, she took care of the home and family. She was a strong woman. When husband Bill was called to serve in two tours of duty in Viet Nam, Yoko was left alone to care for Anna and the home, with no family nearby. During that time she relied on her dear friend Akemi for emotional support. In the 1980s and early 90s, Yoko worked at A&A International, Inc. in Ft. Worth, retiring in 1994 with 19 years of service. retirement, her happiest days were those spent with her granddaughter Tamura. She was an accomplished seamstress and often designed and sewed clothes for her and her daughter. her granddaughter was born, she enjoyed creating one- of -a -kind clothes for her. She was also an active member of the Ft. Worth Japanese Society for many years and especially loved participating in the Japanese dancing group. She was known for her beautiful dancing. retirement, she began watercolor painting and created many beautiful works of art with her friend Norene. Survivors: Yoko is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill Crothers, of Ft. Worth, a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and John Dunbar of Waco and a granddaughter, Tamura, of San Antonio (Trinity University) and Waco. She is also survived by lifelong friends Jim and Akemi Meyers of San Antonio, Norene Cline of North Richland Hills, Chiga Oi of Ft. Worth and various members of the Ft. Worth Japanese Society. Obituary: Our beloved sister, Hazel Mignon Crosthwait went to rest with the Lord. She passed away on , 23, 2004, at the age of 93. Hazel was born in Lytton Springs, Texas on 16, 1911 and became a beautiful and intelligent person. In 1928, at the age of 17, she became employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., which became her career for 48 years, retiring on 1, 1976. Hazel was an active member of the Communication Workers of America Union CWA until she was promoted into management, where she continued to serve in various management positions. She was also an active member of the Alamo Life Members Club Telephone Pioneers of America. One of her proudest moments was when she was appointed Chief Telephone Operator for Hemisfair 1968, giving her the opportunity to meet many guests and dignitaries. During her long career with Southwestern Bell, she earned many awards, certificates and letters of appreciation for her outstanding accomplishments. She was also a member of the Hillcrest Eastern Star. Hazel was proud to have been a relative of the late Lyndon B. Johnson, our 36th President of the United States. Hazel is survived by three sisters, Nan Robinnson of Sun City, Arizona, Beatrice ÂBÂ Jecmenck of Brenham, Texas and Barbara Mullins of Turkey, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She made many friends and will truly be missed by all who knew her. |
