Obituary: John Carmon Crain SR. 1933-2015 John Carmon Crain Sr. was called home to the Lord on , 10th, 2015, after an ongoing battle with heart disease. He was born in Sikes, Louisiana, on 18, 1933. High School, he enlisted in the Navy, in 1948. the Navy, he moved to Houston, Texas where he met the love of his life, Carol Rabe. The couple was married 47 years. For over 20 years he served the Houston community as a Barber, and Owner of Merchant Park Barber Shop. He spent the next years, as a business owner in the oil & gas industry. John served the Lord, as a Deacon at Baptist Temple, and enjoyed coaching little league teams at I.D.C.. John was also a long time member of the Rotary Club, and the S.P.J.S.T Lodge, #88. He is survived by his sister, Bernadine Hyde, his two children, Johnny Crain and Tamela Crain,; daughter-in-law, Renee Crain, and two wonderful grandchildren, Kristin, and Nicole Crain; along with a host of family and friends. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 5:00pm to 8:00pm , 14, 2015, at Pat H. Foley Directors. A celebration of life service will be held at Pat H. Foley Directors in The Chapel of The Garden with Pastor Bass officiating 3:00pm, 15, 2015. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories. |

Obituary: Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. in Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Stan Cosby of St. Stephen United Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Crain was born in Memphis and raised in Childress. He graduated in 1973 from Childress High School and attended Texas Tech University. Mr. Crain worked for Burlington Railroad for 20 years before retiring in 1999. retirement, his favorite pastime was trading. He traded in antiques, watches, guns, etc. He was a member of the Dalhart Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite of Lubbock and of the Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo. He also was a member of First United Church of Childress. Survivors include his wife, Denyce Crain; a son, Stelton Crain of Amarillo; a daughter, Lacy Crain of Amarillo; a brother, Vernon Crain and wife Kathy of Childress; a stepsister, Kelli Eberhart and husband Eric of Springfield, Mo.; his father, Joe Crain and wife Susie of Missouri; his mother, Mozelle Gwynne of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Dalhart Masonic Lodge, 305 Denrock Ave., Dalhart, TX 79022. |

Obituary: Jo Crain, born 13, 1923 in Fredericksburg, TX, died on , 20, 2012 at the age of 88. She moved to San Antonio, became a registered nurse and was employed with a physician in downtown San Antonio. When her son was born in 1955, she retired from nursing to devote her time as a full-time mother and housewife. For 19 years, Jo was a docent at the McNay Art Museum, taking school children on tours of the McNay. She cherished doing the tours because she loved children, but later, due to some health issues had to discontinue this position. She had a beautiful garden, with many different rose bushes and a variety of other flowers. In the spring and summer, she would spend hours taking care of her eauties. The butterflies and humming birds loved her garden, too. Jo was a caring, loving person and will be greatly missed by her relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Warren H. Crain, Jr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hagel Sr. of Fredericksburg, TX; four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Warren H. Obituary: JO ANN YOUNG CRAIN Jo Ann Young Crain, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend died peacefully on , 21, 2010. Jo Ann was born 1, 1932, in Davenport, Okla, to Stella Ilah Blaney and Rufus Elmer Young. She began elementary school in Oklahoma but moved to California for 3rd and 4th grades. WWII drew the family to California in search of a job. the war Jo Ann and her parents returned to Oklahoma, and Jo Ann graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City in 1950. On 18th of the same year, Jo Ann married the love of her life, La Don Everett Crain. Their first two children, Gail Ann and Larry Don, were born in Oklahoma City. In 1956 the young family moved to Odessa, Texas where Don began a 38 year career with Phillips Petroleum. Texas born children, Janet Kay and Jerry Alan were added to the family in Odessa. Jo Ann began her own 28 year career with Southwest 66 Credit Union in 1966. Both Don and Jo Ann retired in 1994. Don preceded Jo Ann in death in 1996. Several years later Jo Ann reconnected with an Oklahoma friend, Walter Goodner of Eufaula. Their friendship continued even when Jo Ann moved to The Cottages at Chandler Creek in Round Rock, TX, in May 2008. The family is deeply grateful to all the special women at The Cottages for the more than two years of love and care they provided for Jo Ann. Special thanks also go to Lighthouse Hospice at Altenheim for their care and compassion in Jo Anns final days. Jo Ann is survived by her four children: Gail Pickett (Danny) of Round Rock, Larry Crain (Cindy) of Odessa, Janet Stump (Matt) of Georgetown, and Jerry Crain (Tammy) of Sonora, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, , 26th at Hubbard Kelly , 601 N.
