Obituary: Charles Eddie Craig was born to the late Johnny Craig, Jr. and the late Otheola Nixon Ryan on 30, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, as the second of three children. Bubba Craig always loved to work on cars, race at Yellow Belly Drag Strip and sometimes heated up the streets of Dallas. He could always be found reading tons and tons of Hot Rod magazines and taught himself to switch out auto body parts from one model to another. While he was in high school at Booker T. Washington, he could always be found following several shop owners on weekends, learning as much as he could about cars. In high school, when most students walked or rode the bus, he owned a car. Heads turned when he pulled up in his bright cherry-red ‘55 Mercury with Chevy tail fins! Everyone wanted it. He was known for his innate ability to work on cars, souping up engines and chopping tops off old classic ‘32 Fords. He was King of the Hot Rods! Bubba worked at Susan Crane Paper Co. and General Motors in Arlington, Texas. He then decided he’d get more pleasure out of working for himself owning his own business. C Automotive Paint and Body Shop became his future. He helped many with auto repairs and continued to work passionately on all makes and models until his health began to fail. He still continued to go by his shop, visiting friends and colleagues of the auto repair business until his passing. His witty sense of humor was loved by all!! This patriarch of the Craig family is survived by his wife, Michelle McGregor, daughter, Tameka (Ronnie) Jackson, son, Erik McGregor; father, Percy Ryan; sisters, Florence Pollard and Lawanza Jackson; first wife, Desiree Moore Craig, son, Stephen Craig, daughter, Deborah Craig Traylor; second wife, Minnie Craig, and son, Jamahld Lowery of Atlanta, Georgia. He leaves a legacy of grandchildren, Mykayla Bradley, Alexandria Traylor, and twins Stephanie and Stephen Traylor; nieces and nephews, Angela (Rodney) Johnson of Houston, Texas, John D. Melton, Jr., Dana (John) Whitaker, Andre Melton (deceased) (Gabrielle), Sharon Long, Dennis Scott, and Dina Daniel, all of Dallas; grand nieces and grand nephews, Aaron, Christopher, Jessica, Tyrone, LeVett, John, Andre Jr., Ivonee, Taryn, Jaden, Morgan, Tre, Xzavier, and Adriana; and a host of other relatives and many friends. |
