During his career James worked for several construction companies including Armco and Lem Construction before starting his own company J.L. Cox Inc. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and supporting the Houston sports teams. James is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Shirley R. Cox; his parents Hamett and Mary Cox; as well as his sisters, Frances Cox and Willa Jean White. Obituary: James W. Breezy Cox Jr., of Lake Jackson, died 18 2015 after a short stay in hospice. Breezy was a loving and much loved husband, father, and grandfather, -- an unfailing source of support and guidance to his family.

Breezy was born 24 1924 in Noodle, TX to Waldo and Nina Cox. He graduated from Merkel (Texas) High School in 1941. He played football at TCU and Hardin Simmons University, eventually graduating from Sul Ross University. He earned his Masters degree from the University of Houston. Breezy married his life-long love, Elizabeth Herring, in Stamford in 1947; he then moved to the Brazosport area where both begain the long, successful careers as educators.

Breezy taught math and coached the Velasco Seagulls football team at Velasco Junior High, and then became coach of the Storm Squad at Brazosport HS. He was also the shot-put coach at Brazosport, training several medalists and state champions among his proudest accomplishments.

Breezy became an assistant principal at Brazosport in 1966, moving to Brazoswood High School in 1969. He retired in 1985, allowing him to pursue his passions for track meets, golf, garage sales, and making music boxes.

Breezy was preceded in death by his wife and partner, Lib; his daughter, Cathy; parents Nina & Waldo; and sister, Louise Bullock.

Breezy is survived by his son, Steve Cox (Elaine) of League City, TX; daughter Cece Cope (Steve) of Bloomington, MN; grandchildren Suzanne, Chris, Katie, Jon, Shane & Mollie; and many friends, colleagues, and students.

A memorial service will be held at Restwood in Clute, TX on 28, with visitation of friends and family beginning at 11am and funeral services beginning at 1pm. Following the services, Breezy will be laid to rest in Restwood Memorial Park .

Serving as pallbearers will be James "Bo" Lander, Johnny Redden, Jim Arthur, Franklin "D-Boy" Williams, Bill Mueller, and Lee "Muggins" Lebow.

As a young man in his twenties he relocated to Michigan to find work in the auto factories and that is where he met the love of his life, Gretta. were married 4, 1945. Mr. Cox was a hard worker who loved ranching and his family. He was always there for anyone who needed help. James will be remembered as a kind and loving man with a beautiful smile.

Survivors include his wife, Gretta Cox of Fouke, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Joe Davis of Kingston, TN; sons and daughter-in-law, James Cox, Jr. of Woodland MI ; and William and Virginia Cox of Fouke, AR; granddaughters, Sarah Cox and her husband, Otis of Fouke, AR, and Rachel VanderMeer and her husband Zack, of Clarksville, MI; grandsons, Jared Cox and his wife Krista, of Texarkana, TX ; great granddaughters, Hailey VanderMeer of Clarksville, MI, and Chloe Wright-Brown of Texarkana, TX; great grandsons, Davin Cox and Maddox Cox both of Fouke, AR; and sister, Abilene Vickers of Texarkana, AR.and a loving and kind caregiver, Nancy Littleton.

Obituary: James Griffin Cox, III, 60 year old Ector resident, passed away at his home on afternoon, 15, 2014. James was a loving man who was devoted to his family and friends always putting others needs and wants before his own. He loved being a truck driver, taking pride in doing a good job. James was born 19, 1954 in Bonham, Texas to parents John Oliver Cox and Dorothy Nell (Hill) Cox. James married Nancy Marie Sires and even though they divorced, he was always married to her in his heart. She preceded him in death in 2013. Obituary: Mr. James H. Cox, age 67, passed away on 7, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Victoria, Texas on 20, 1946.

A funeral service will be conducted on 15, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel at 2:00 pm with Bro. Edgar Stanaland officiating. Both the United States Navy and the Patriot Guard Riders will be present to honor Mr. Cox. Burial will follow at the Alazan in Nacogdoches.

James loved to travel. His journey started in Texas. During his adolescent years he lived in Salzburg Austria. In early adulthood he relocated to San Antonio where he graduated high school. The best day of his life was when he met Frankie Jo and her children and then took her to be his wife for 41 years.

His fondest memories occurred when he was a Cub Scout Master and boy Scout Master for 10 years. He enjoyed mentoring young men. He was also a 4-H leader for 6 years. He loved traveling the country in his over the road rig. He would hall all sorts of things whatever was needed. He got to see a lot of the country.

Mr. Cox is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Drucilla Nixon. James is survived by his soul mate, Jo Cox; sons, Jon Thomas Cox and wife Carolyn, Joseph Jeremiah Cox and wife Elisha; adopted daughter, Barbara Hassell and husband, Rory; grandchildren, Katelyn Elizabeth Hassell, Krisanne LaBarba, Carlo LaBarba, Wil McEwen, Daniel McEwen, DeAndre Woods, Julianna Williams; brothers, Stephen Danforth Cox and wife, Edna, Phillip Cheesman and wife, Marsha, John Allen Chessman and wife, Connie; sister, Ruth Elizabeth Miller and husband, Melvin; numerous nieces, nephews, and many great friends

Cox and wife, Diane; her daughter, Connie Cox; her son-in-law Charles Thompson; grandchildren, Casey Thompson, Debbie Thompson Grice and her husband Nathan Grice; and her great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Tori Thompson. She was born 30, 1924 in Camden, Arkansas, of Sidney Glenn Myers and Nellie Green Myers. She spent her formative years in Shreveport, Louisiana, attending Creswell Elementary School and C. E. Byrd High School. She attended Stephens in Missouri for a year, then transferred to LSU, where she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was graduated in 1946 with a bachelors degree in Sociology. She married Norman C. Cox that same year. He joined the Army Air Corps, and they began a military life. While he was off flying for his country, she served in her own way, holding down the home front and raising three rambunctious children. She handled the multitude of relocations with great aplomb. her husband retired from the military as a Lt. Col., and when her children were in high school, she returned to college and earned a BA in Social Studies and a Masters in Education, becoming a guidance counselor and educational diagnostician in 1971. She taught at St. Vincents Academy in Shreveport, and became their guidance counselor. She finished her education career as an independent contractor educational diagnostician for the State of Texas. moved to Air Force Village I in San Antonio in 1990 and to Village II in 1991, where they spent their final years surrounded by dear friends and attentive staff. She had numerous hobbies, including bridge, volunteer work, and line dancing. She and Norm traveled extensively around the world, including many family trips and long summer excursions in their motor home with their beloved grandchildren. She was the epitome of selfless devotion to her family. One of her friends at AFV nicknamed her Sparky--- a fitting tribute to her ever-present bright smile. GRAVESIDE SERVICE
