Obituary: Gail Connell Coulbourn, aged 79, died peacefully in her sleep on 14, 2017. She and Dixon lived in Tarrytown, Austin, Texas since 1960. Gail is survived by her husband Dixon Wall Coulbourn and their two sons Travis Coulbourn and Dan Coulbury, daughters-in-law Jessica Coulbury and Katie Malinski, 4 beloved grandchildren: Calvin, Maggie, Marley, and Caroline, brothers-in-law Sam Coulbourn and Enrique Flores, and sister-in-law Marty Coulbourn, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many beloved friends. She was predeceased by their oldest son Dixon Edge Coulbourn, who died in 2005, and her sister-in-law Martha Coulbourn Flores. Gail was born in Tyler, Texas, to Sibyl & Clifford Connell. She graduated high school in Port Arthur, Texas, attended college at Lamar Tech in Beaumont, Texas and graduate school (MA in English) from the University of Texas. She taught English at Lanier High School and ACC for many years. She, along with her husband Dixon, an engineer for 38 years at Applied Research Labs, were long-standing members of Red River Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church before that. Gail was very athletic and highly valued regular exercise and healthy food. She loved to be outdoors and really enjoyed camping with her family. Everyone who knew her said she was very sweet and welcoming, always offering food and drink to any friend who came to their home. She had a knack for making people feel comfortable and important, and shared her generous spirit with family, friends, church family, and even strangers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was very loved, and is deeply missed. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30-2:00pm on , 19, 2017 followed by funeral service at 2:00pm at Cook Walden , 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX. Interment will follow at Cook Walden Capital Parks at 3:30pm. |

Obituary: Sylvia Joyce White Cougot died after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease on 10, 2014 in Austin, Texas. She was born on 19, 1934 in Refugio, Texas to Clara Prescott White and Herbert White. Sylvia was raised by her beloved grandparents until the age of 5 when her mother married a wonderful man, Reese R. Hardin, and moved to Dumas, Texas to live with them. A much beloved baby brother, R. Wesley Hardin, completed the family and they eventually settled in Pasadena, Texas. Sylvia didn't meet her biological father until she was a teenager when she learned she had a half sister, Berniece White. Sylvia graduated from Pasadena High School at the age of 16 and attended business school in Houston. She started working at a grocery store in Houston at age 14, after lying about her age. She had many secretarial/bookkeeping jobs through the years including stints at Burns Detective Agency, J & J Valve, managing the Aquarium Club, managing a Physical Therapy office and finally retiring from the Texas Department of Transportation. Sylvia married a handsome Marine, Buddy J. Denson, in 1952. had 2 daughters: Teresa and Katy. She then married Jesse E. Cougot in 1972 and they were together until Jesse's death in 1990. A brief marriage to Chester Massey followed. She then met John Cleek, a kind and generous man that she was with until his death in 2012. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Teresa J. Miller and son in law Banks L. Miller of Austin, her grandson Dr. Banks P. Miller (wife Rachel) and great grandson Banks C. Miller of Plano, her brother Wesley Hardin and sister in law Irene Hardin of Brenham, Texas, nephew Alan Hardin of Pasadena, Texas, niece, Renee Hardin of League City, Texas, and aunt Marjorie Foster of Cuero, Texas. Sylvia was a beautiful, intelligent, strong woman that survived the loss of an infant daughter, breast cancer, divorces and widowhood. She loved her family, men that could dance, her Yorkies-Churchill, Clementine, Dixie and Tuffy, and Bingo. The family is grateful for the excellent care she received from the staff at Emeritus of Beckett Meadows Memory and A-Med Hospice. She will be interred next to Jesse in Brookside Memorial Park following the visitation at 10AM and Service at 11AM. |

Obituary: Birl Coughran, 93, passed away , 26. He was born in Arkansas in 1921. Brought up during the depression, his family moved from Arkansas to Texas when Birl was 8 years old. Birl joined the Army in 1943 and bravely served during WWII. In the Army he was given the nickname Tex and the nickname stayed with him over the years. In the Army, he was stationed in England where he met Peggy Allman. During Birls tour of military duty the couple was married in England. When the war ended the Queen Mary brought Birl back to America with his new bride. The couple made their home in Grand Prairie, TX with their son Pat and daughter Diane. Birl worked as a body mechanic in Grand Prairie and later at Hobbs Trailors in Dallas until his retirement. Birl was a hard worker and could make anything with his hands. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor, as his family and friends are well aware of. Birl and Peggy shared a passion for gardening and loved to share what they grew with their friends and family. Birl was a proud member of the Sam R. Hamilton Masonic lodge in Grand Prairie for over 50 years. Birl had a way of endearing people to him with his humor and most everyone who knew him has a fond memory of that humor. Birls giving nature, great sense of humor, courage and love will be missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his loving wife Gladys Coughran and son Patrick Coughran. Survived in death by sister Wanda Catarino, daughter Diane Lederman; grandchildren Rhianna Wurman, Karis Lederman, Patrick Coughran and Michael Coughran and great grandchildren. |
