Obituary: Mrs. Jewell Cottle, a longtime resident of Bastrop, died , Jan. 10, 2017, in Cedar Park.

Visitation and funeral services are scheduled for , Jan. 16, 2017 in the chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby in Bastrop. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM followed by funeral services at 12:00PM. Graveside services and interment will then follow in the Elgin at 2:00 PM.

Mrs. Cottle was born on 15, 1919, on a farm west of Elgin, the daughter of Cam and Ethel Wilson. She married Aubrey Cottle in Bastrop in , 1935. lived many years on the Elgin Butler Brick plant between Elgin and McDade and were active members of the Elgin Methodist Church. She worked for Eli Aronson in the grocery business in Elgin. Prior to retirement they built a home on the river in Bastrop, where they eventually moved after retirement and became active in the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop. Her husband preceded her in death in 1981.

She is survived by two sons and their spouses, including Bennie and Donna Cottle of Leander and Ronnie and Ruby Cottle of Fredericksburg. Survivors also include six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop or to the charity of choice.

Obituary: Hugh Edward Cottle, age 85, of Austin, passed away , 27, 2011. He was born 2, 1925 to Norris and Ida Cottle.

Hugh proudly served his country in World War II as a Naval Flight Engineer, PBY Search and Recovery.

Hugh made many sacrifices for his family as he always placed them above all others. He had a strong faith in the Lord, living and loving life to the fullest. He enjoyed backyard barbecues, fishing, camping, coast trips and animals of all walks of life. Hugh loved to share his remarkable knowledge of the bible and world history events. An extraordinary storyteller, he had a natural knack for telling jokes. A compassionate person by nature, he never met a stranger and would not turn away anyone in need. He was respected and loved by everyone who ever met him.

He married Doris Jean Hicks on May 23, 1946 and they had two daughters, Sandra Marie and Carol Jean.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Marie Cottle; brothers, Calvin Bubba Cottle, Darrell Cottle; sisters, Margaret Craig, Dorothy Holland, Anetta Krenek, and Melba Culp.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Jean Cottle; daughter, Carol Dotson and husband, Bill; granddaughter, Jennifer Elaine Wiley, grandsons, Michael Trey Cottle and Shawn Dotson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Gibbs, Kierstyn Wiley and Kaija Cottle; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer special appreciation to lifelong friends Harold, Barbara and Courtney Tiedt (who was like a granddaughter) for all their years of loving support and loyal friendship.

Also, special appreciation to nephew Harry Krenek for officiating services and to nephew Bill and wife Leslie Krenek for all their years of love, compassion and support.

Our deepest gratitude to Dr. P. Chadha, Dr. Glen Graves, Marbridge Villa and Hospice Austin for their compassion and excellent care.

Obituary: Doris Jean Jeannie Cottle, age 84, of Austin, Texas passed away , 10, 2013. She was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas until marrying the love of her life, Hugh, in 1946. She has been a resident of Austin since 1947.

Jeannie retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1991 after over 25 years of service.

Like her husband Hugh, Jeannie always placed her family above everything else, and made many sacrifices in doing so. She was known and loved by everyone for her sweet, loving and patient demeanor, for her deep concern for all family members, her acceptance of everyone despite their shortcomings, her bubbly personality and for her strong faith in the Lord. Jeannie loved family time and was especially happy when she could be with her grandchildren. Jeannie and Hugh enjoyed many trips to the coast and various other places, with their family and friends. She certainly had a knack for cooking and decorating during the holidays; her home was always beautiful and inviting. She was an exceptional cook, and loved hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Christmas Eves were undoubtedly a favorite, at which time her family and friends would come over for long evenings of fun, food and opening gifts. nights at the Cottle house for UT football games were a tradition enjoyed for many years. Those were very special times for the family and will be remembered forever. Jeannie was respected and loved by everyone who ever met her.

Jeannie married Hugh Edward Cottle in Elgin, Texas on May 23, 1946. had two daughters, Sandra and Carol.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Frankie and Lloyd Hicks; daughter, Sandra Cottle; and her husband of 65 years, Hugh.

Jeannie is survived by her daughter, Carol Dotson and husband, Bill; granddaughter, Jennifer Elaine Olsen and husband, Kirk; grandsons, Michael Cottle and Shawn Dotson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Gibbs, Kierstyn Wiley, Kaija Cottle, Courtney Tiedt; and niece, Debra Hicks.

The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon, , 13, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks . services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks . Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

Obituary: Beverly Maude Cate Cottle passed away on 27, 2015 at the age of 105. She was born 8, 1910 in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Clinton Freeman Cate and Bess Maude Perry Cate.
Beverly grew up in Salt Lake until age 13 when her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and later to Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Amarillo High School and took a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Beverly also pursued a Masters in Business Administration at the University of New Mexico and later at the University of Texas in El Paso.
moving with her family to El Paso, Beverly worked in social services until marrying Joel Theodore Cottle in 1938. Beverlys focus then switched to being a wife, homemaker, and mother to three daughters. She was a dedicated participant in her childrens schools and the PTAs. Throughout the years, she also remained a history buff and enjoyed dabbling in many art mediums, having taken classes from a number of teachers through the years.
Beverly was active in several volunteer movements and greatly enjoyed the social life of various womens groups, including the El Paso Womens Club, Tri Delta Sorority Alumni Association, and the American Association of University Women. She was a member of the AO Chapter PEO Sisterhood for 72 years.
Beverly will be remembered for her love of family, cooking and her garden. She had a wonderful zest for life and her unflagging spirit to enjoy every minute of every day. There was never an outing that she didn want to attend, and never a bridge or bingo game she didn want to play, even in her later years.
Beverly was preceded in death in death by her husband J. Ted Cottle, daughter Carole Cottle, and son-in-law Thomas Clements. She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Clements and Nancy Stoltzman; six grandchildren, Clint Clements (Jennifer), Greg Clements, Aimee Britt (Terry), Kelley Keller (Christian), Stacy Stoltzman, and Ted Stoltzman (Molly); three great-grandchildren, Pierce Stoltzman, Lena Stoltzman, and Hollis Stoltzman. She will also be greatly missed by her long time caretaker and friend Francisca Medina as well as her son-in-law Ben Stoltzman.
The family would like to express love and appreciation to the entire staff of Regency of El Paso, and Hospice of El Paso with special thanks to Willie, Rosa Linda, Isabel, Carmen and Belen to name a few of the attentive people who took care of Beverly toward the end of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held on , 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Western Hills United Methodist Church, 524 Thunderbird Drive.

She is preceded by her husband Eugene Cottier; brothers, Frank Babbitt, and Bill Babbitt; sisters, Barbara Mullen, Nancy Denbow, and Pat Babbitt. raising three daughters, she went to work at 3M where she enjoyed her job in purchasing for many years. retiring, she and her husband relocated to Texas to be close to their daughters. bought a house on Cedar Creek Lake,where they spent many happy years until they became restless, bought a motor home, and headed out to see the USA. travelled extensively for 5 years until health issues led them back home. Virginia loved to travel, watch birds, play cards and spend time with her family. Virginia spent her last year residing at The Hillcrest of North Dallas.

Service for Virginia will be held on , 25, 2015 at 11 am at Ted Dickey West with interment at Dallas Fort Worth National to follow at 2:00 pm.
