Obituary: Margie Cotten passed away on 3, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She was born on 16, 1930 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Tom and Marie Williams. Margie is survived by her husband Kimsey Cotten of 64 years; son Robert Cotten; daughter-in-law, Dina Cotten of Meadows Place; granddaughters, Kim Mican of Fulshear and Michelle Kovar of Cypress; great-grand sons, Jacob Mican of Fulshear and Logan Kovar of Cypress; and many family and friends. Margie was proceeded in death by her parents, Tom and Marie Williams; her two brothers Charles Williams and Tommy Williams. Margie was baptized as a Jehovahs Witness in 1943 and firmly believed according to Bible prophecy that Jehovah Gods Kingdom would someday bring an end to all of the world governments with all of the corruption and war and replace them with a theocratic government. (Daniel 2:44)(Matthew 6:9-14)(2 Peter 3: 13) Margie also believed that Jehovah God will bring end to suffering and death according to 1 Corinthians 15:28 and Revelation 21:4 and there will be a resurrection back to life here on earth as Jesus demonstrated with Lazarus at John 11:11-44. Margie loved to spend time with her family and regularly went on family vacations. She was an expert seamstress and often made her own clothes. Making all kinds of deserts was something she loved to do and her pecan pie was a favorite request within our family. Margie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2011 which came as a big surprise to her family and her friends because she was able to hide the symptoms quite well for about 10 months before she was overwhelmed with the disease. Thinking back before her condition worsened we remember activities and responses that were symptoms that we should have picked up on. For example: Margie normally loved to make deserts and she was a master at making pecan pies. When she was invited to a family dinner she asked if she could bring anything and we requested her pecan pie, she replied I don know if I can remember how to make one. We thought that was a strange reply but we didn pursue it. Often she would have difficulty with conversation and would forget what she wanted to say and look to her devoted husband to help her remember what she was trying to say. There are many symptoms but families need to take notice and try to get their love ones diagnosed before its too late for them to understand what is happening. Margie never really understood what was happening and never got to say her farewells because her condition was too far advanced and she could not comprehend what was happening. In lieu of sending flowers we would prefer donations be sent to the Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org . A memorial service will take place on , 8, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Earthman Southwest . |

Obituary: JB Cotten, Jr., 87, passed away 3, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born in Crane, Texas on 3, 1928 to Rosa (Davis) Cotten and JB Cotten, Sr. The Cotten family relocated to Seagraves, Texas in 1939 where his father was an attorney and rancher. During WWII he was responsible for running the familys Gaines Co. ranch while attending High School and playing football. graduation he attended New Mexico Western where he played football and attained his undergraduate degree. During this time he also met and married his best friend and life time partner, Virginia Mac McCracken whom he shared his 65th anniversary with last . One of JBs passions was football, but he chose to turn down a college football coaching opportunity to attend Law School at Baylor University. Upon graduating from Baylor he moved to Odessa to enter law partnership with his father. He also had a passion for breeding and racing Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses. He served as the President of the Quarter Horse Association of West Texas three times and worked diligently to promote and improve the industry. JB was a member of the Baptist Church and was a Master Mason. In 1970 he relocated his law practice to Lubbock and joined the Huff and Bowers Law firm. Later Forrest Bowers and JB formed Bowers and Cotten law firm. JB was among the last of a dying breed of gentlemen jurists who did not need formal rules of court to govern an active trial practice, but instead relied upon time honored traditions between attorneys where honor, cooperation and respect for each other ruled relations. He was passionate about representing the interests of laborers, and held a well-earned reputation as a trial lawyer who could obtain large awards for his clients who suffered death or injuries in work-related accidents. JB is survived by his wife, Mac; a daughter, Suzanne Hudnall of Lubbock, Texas; a son, JB Cotten, IV of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Jean Laird of Wilcox, Arizona and Dorothy Browne of Rotan, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
