Obituary: Born 17, 1942 in Dallas, Texas, Jim Corbin ascended to the arms of God 31, 2015, leaving behind his wife of 33 years, Mary Corbin, and five children Ginger Dreiling, James Kirkwood Corbin II, Teresa Jarboe, Richard Whitten and Michelle Corbin, along with eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Jim is one of nine siblings - Patti Stegall, Barbara Christian, Sandy Keiser, Donna Corbin, Bill Corbin, Lori Corbin, Terry Duarte, and Michael Driskill - and the patriarch of a large and loving family of numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of church family. An Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kingwood Ward 1 in Kingwood, Texas, Jim was also an Elder and Bishop of the Cleveland, Texas LDS church where he dutifully served God and the congregation with tender care and compassion until moving to the Porter Branch. Jim led a quiet life. He attended school in Pasadena, Texas, and served his country in the United States Navy for four years. departing the Navy, Jim went on to become a Quality Assurance Inspector in the aerospace engineering industry and thereafter worked in the family business until his retirement. Later in his retirement, he worked part time with H&R Block. Jim played guitar as a working musician during many parts of his life to share with others his intense personal love of music, which his family and children will share for generations to come. We grieve in his passing, and celebrate in the joys of his life. Services will be held at the Kingwood Memorial at 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas, 281.358.9005 on , 4 at 2 p.m. A short reception for family and friends will follow. Donations to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Mission Ministry fund are requested in lieu of flowers. |

Obituary: HURST -- Floyd Weldon Corbin passed away peacefully at his home in Hurst on , Nov. 29, 2012. : 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Keller, 225 Keller Parkway, Keller. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale, immediately following the service. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. at Shannon Rufe Snow Chapel. Memorials: The family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011, in lieu of flowers. Weldon was born in Retrop, Okla., May 17, 1929, the son of William Elbert Corbin and Docia Mae Street. He was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. Growing up on the family farm, Weldon played basketball and baseball, eventually going to Sayre Junior to play basketball. He married his high school sweetheart, Claudene Winingham, in 1948. moved to Bedford in 1955, where he was active in the First United Methodist Church of Hurst for many years. Weldon coached youth baseball in the Mid-Cities area for several years. He began working at Chance Vought in Grand Prairie and eventually began working for Texas Instruments as a draftsman and then went on to become a robotics research designer retiring in 1989. In 1970, Weldon and Claudene moved to Blue Ridge, Texas, where they lived for 27 years and again became very active in the First United Methodist Church in Blue Ridge. On their farm, he began Corbin Fruit Orchard specializing in peaches, plums and apples. In 1997, they sold the farm and relocated to Arlington to be near family. Weldon enjoyed watching the Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. He lost his beloved Claudene after 51 years of marriage in 1999. Weldon met and married Vallene Cowles in 2000 and spent 12 happy years together traveling the United States. He enjoyed participating in their school class at First Baptist Church Keller. He loved his four grandchildren, Troy, Bobbie, CW and Amy, and equally loved Vallene's grandchildren, and Andy. Survivors: Weldon is held in loving memory by his wife, Vallene Corbin; son, Terry and his wife, Marilyn, of Arlington; daughter, Katy and her husband, Randy Wild, of Arlington; stepson, Mike Brandon and his wife, Tammy, of Port Orchard, Wash.; stepson, Dennis Cowles and his wife, Elizabeth, of Bay St. Louis, Ms; stepdaughter, Linda Newton and her husband, Guy, of Clinton, Okla.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Weldon is also survived by sister-in-law, Mona Corbin of Sentinel, Okla., and brother-in-law, David Winingham and his wife, Suzy, of Granbury. |
