Obituary: Ovena Paschal Copelin, 88, of Abilene passed away peaceful into the arms of Jesus on , 4, 2011, at a local nursing facility. services will be held at 1 pm, , 7, 2011 at Resthavens Abbey Chapel with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 12 pm until service time. Ovena was born 9, 1922 in Shallowater, Texas to Elbert and Rachel Paschal. She lived all her life in Lubbock where she met her husband, Tom Copelin. Ovena and Tom were charter members of Skyline Baptist Church where she taught Preschool children for over 40 years. She loved helping people and was a dedicated and faithful follower of our Lord. Ovena was a homemaker and was dedicated to the care and love for her family. She moved to Abilene in 1993 to live with her daughter, Ruby and Ben Streiff, and was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church where she loved making quilts for the Jabez Class to auction for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Many friends and family will miss her wonderful home cooked meals and delicious pies she shared with them. Survivors include two daughters, Ruby (Ben) Streiff of Abilene and Kay (Richard) Billingslea of McKinney, four grandchildren, Melinda (Tim) Hampton of Frisco, Connie Streiff of Fort Worth, Randal (Leslie) Brown of Plano and Jason (Heather) Streiff of Midland, four great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Austin, Kylie and Cooper. Ovena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom Copelin, two brothers, Elvin Paschal, Roy Paschal, and three sisters, Meta Huddleston, Pearl Ragle, and Geneva Spence. We would like to thank Hendrick Hospice and Inn of Abilene for their support during this time. Memorials may be made to Pioneer Drive Baptist Church of Abilene or the Alzheimers Association. |

Obituary: Mesquite – Willie E. (Bill) Copeland passed away on , 21, 2015 at Cambridge Court Assisted Living Facility. Mr. Copeland was a resident of Mesquite, Texas for more than 40 years and a member of Mesquite Church of Christ. He played music for more than 80 years of his life. Music was his greatest passion. Bill Copeland and the Texas Playboys played Country Music throughout the DFW area for most of those years. In the final 2 years of his life he was a resident at the Cambridge Court Assisted Living Facility.
