Obituary: Perry Clayton Jimmy Copeland of Conroe, Texas went to be with the Lord on 26, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born 28, 1932 in Marquez, Texas. He married Shirley Keilers Copeland on 12, 1961 and they had two daughters, Rita and Kim. He moved his family to Conroe, Texas in 1972 where he had a career in the car business. He and his wife opened a Chrysler dealership in Navasota, Texas in 1978, and later opened two dealerships: Dodge City and Jimmy Copeland Chrysler Jeep in Tomball, Texas. He became known as Paw Paw to the Houston and Station area because of his Come See Paw Paw television commercials with his four grandchildren Amanda, Jared, Madison, and Makenzie. He enjoyed playing and singing real country music, saltwater fishing, spending time with his family, and telling stories tohis children and grandchildren. Prior to settling down and focusing on the car business he graduated from Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia as a qualified paratrooper, and that is where his name changed to Jimmy and his music career began. He won a singing contest on the radio while off base without permission, and when they asked his name he knew he would get into trouble if he shared his real name. He quickly gave them the name of Jimmy Copeland. He came back to Texas and organized a western dance and show band. He was also a disk jockey for KIKK radio in Houston, and in 1962 he was named Mr. DJ USA at a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee. The Jimmy Copeland Band played many top spots in the nation on their own as well as touring with some of the biggest names in the business. He had many hit songs and a country music television show that aired on Channel 26 in Houston in the early seventies. He decided to get off the road for a while so he could spend more time with his family and took steady jobs at several of Houstons biggest western clubs Dancetown USA, Equire Ballroom, and Breezeway. That is when a car dealer talked him into selling cars in the afternoon, and his career in the car business began. Jimmy was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Shriners. He is survived by Shirley Keilers Copeland his loving wife of 53 years, two daughters and sons-in-law Rita and Larry Hejl and Kim and Ronald Liston, grandchildren Amanda and husband Jared Nuss, Jared Hejl, Madison Liston, Makenzie Liston, and Crystal Relf, from daughter Cathy, and many other family and friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents Selman Perry Copeland and Thekla Winn Butler, daughter Cathy Copeland Relf, from his previous marriage, his grandmother Lou Weta Winn, and his brother William Butler. Obituary: James R. Copeland loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather passed away peacefully on 13, 2016 at the age of 78. James was born 18, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Herbert and Evelyn Copeland. James was employed with Lubys for 32 years and was a strong supporter of the Windcrest Fire Dept. James was also involved with the Classic Thunderbird Club for several years and enjoyed hunting and was an avid Spurs fan. James was preceded in death by his parents. James is survived by his loving wife Carrie Copeland, ex -wife Barbara E. Copeland brother Jack Copeland (Dora) sons Jim Copeland Jr. (Michelle), Mark A. Copeland (Noemi) daughter Leigh-Ann Shrum (Jeff) son George Arriaga (Linda) and daughter Sandra Castellon (Robert). James is also survived by 12 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great Great -Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim loved his family and was so proud of all his children and grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was attending his grandchildrens sports activities. As Jim would say Glad you got to see me. Pallbearers will be Chuck Arriaga, Omar Mendoza, Gabriel Garcia, Christopher Copeland, Mason Shrum and Jacob Copeland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kody Copeland, Omar Mendoza III, Mark Martinez and Matthew Martinez . Visitation will take place at Sunset 17, 2016 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A Mass will begin at 12:00pm 18, 2016 at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church 111 Barilla San Antonio, Texas 78209.
