Obituary: Marilyn Louise Gay Cook lived a life that was dedicated to others. Her life began 12, 1942 in Winfield Kansas. The first child born to Harold W. and Leoma C. Gay she was raised in a loving family that included a younger brother William. Marilyn was a dedicated wife to husband T. Walter Cook. met on Main Street in Winfield. Although Marilyn played hard to catch, Walt was finally able to convince her that he was her beau and they were married on 7,1964. The marriage was blessed with three children; Greg (born 1,1969); Gretchen (May 12,1973); and Joshua ( 15,1977). enjoyed a loving and caring marriage that lasted over 50 years. Marilyn was a devoted mother. She did enjoy a successful career, although interrupted by her dedication to her children. She attended Winfield public schools graduating from Winfield High School in 1960. She continued her education by completing a degree at William Newton School of in Winfield in 1963. Her first assignment as a Registered Nurse was in Akrin, Ohio in 1964. She was employed by Akron General Hospital and quickly rose to the position of Charge Nurse. In 1966 Marilyn and Walt made the decision to move to Houston. There she was employed at Methodist Hospital in the Scoliosis Unit, where she was again swiftly rose to Charge Nurse. Marilyn left Methodist to work as a Psychiatric Nurse for a clinic before saying goodbye to start her family. She returned to work in 1986 as a Psychiatric Nurse for a Rehab Hospital before confirming her love for children by becoming a School Nurse in 2000. She enjoyed many activities including he long time membership in a sorority that began in 1972. She held several offices including President. Her dedication was rewarded by being selected for Miss Congeniality, Woman of the Year, and Sweetheart for several years. Marilyns faith in Christ is evident in every step she took in life. She was an active member of Second Baptist Church located in Kingwood TX. She was a dedicated member of BSF(Bible Study Fellowship) for more than 30 years where she a study leader on several occasions. Her family members were blessed to enjoy Marilyns sense of adventure which was evident in her travels. She reveled in the chance to get away with family. Josh, Walt and Marilyn went on several motorcycle trips around the U S and into Canada. Gretchen and Marilyn enjoyed trips to Disney almost yearly with Gretchen and Jasons son, Jackson. Brandon and Colby(Greg and Dianas children) were thrilled by a trip to Washington D.C. She was lucky enough to live in a neighborhood where family extended outside of her front door. She loved her neighbors and friends as they loved her. This is evident by the love and support that they have provided during the familys time of mourning. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father Harold, and brother William. She is survived and sorely missed by her mother Leoma, husband Walt, sister-in-law Francis, daughter Gretchen, sons Greg and Josh, daughter-in-law Diana, son-in-law Jason, four grandchildren Monica and her husband Alton, Brandon, Colby, and Jackson, and one great grandchild Caylee. |

Obituary: Marie Miller Cook, beloved mother, grandmother, friend, passed away at the age of 89 in the early morning hours of 4, 2016 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharyn and Andy Pellegrin of New Braunfels; her grandsons, Andy Pellegrin, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Alice Springs, Australia, Steve Pellegrin of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; her four great-grandsons, Andre Louis Pellegrin III, Ethan Patrick Pellegrin, and Ryan Connor Pellegrin of Mitford, Delaware, and Steven Wayne Pellegrin, Jr. of Ogden, Utah; her sister, Jean Anderson and niece, Debbie Jones of Odessa, Texas. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Noel W. Williams, their daughter, Kelli Kay Williams, and by her second husband, Charles Everett Cook of New Braunfels, Texas. Marie moved to New Braunfels in 1993 and quickly established her church home at New Braunfels Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed worship and fellowship with her extensive church family for over twenty years. She was well known for her perpetual smile and willingness to be of service to her community of friends and her church family. She was and excellent seamstress and a true homemaker in every sense of the word, making her surroundings beautiful wherever she lived. She moved away from New Braunfels in 2010 and enjoyed a few years in the company of her sister, Jean, and niece, Debbie. referred to themselves as the hree musketeers and made many happy memories together. Marie was a kind and giving soul who found joy in every aspect of her life. She was a very special person whose loving presence is a devastating loss to all who knew her and were privileged to spend time with her. She maintained her sweet optimism and faith all the days of her life. The family is grateful for all the loving support we have received during this most difficult of times and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to SOS Food Bank, New Braunfels Presbyterian Church, or Hope Hospice. |

Obituary: Marguerite Ann Cook, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed peacefully from the presence of all those she held dear on , 23, 2015 at the age of 92. Her family gives thanks for her long and good life, seasoned with both graciousness and a verve loved by all who knew her. Marguerite was born 13, 1922 and raised in Port Arthur, TX. There she met the love of her life, Truman Frederick Cook, serving him a chocolate ice cream cone at the local drug store. were married on 25, 1941 in Lake Charles, LA. Marguerite faithfully served and thrived in her roles as Army wife and mother of three children, Forrest Ann, Steven Edward, and Holly Lee through many years of active duty in assignments taking them throughout the United States as well as South America. Marguerite cultivated considerable talents as cook, seamstress, entertainer, and homemaker - talents that brought comfort and beauty to family and friends as well as her church community. She and Truman gave generously of their service to Churches of Christ, in Dallas enjoying a long relationship with Walnut Hill Church of Christ, whose members were their dearest friends, offering each other the comforts of companionship as well as solidarity in Christ. In addition to all the small but wondrous ways Marguerite extended beauty and kindness to the world around her, she leaves the legacy of her family: her children, Forrest, Steve, and Holly; their spouses, Donnie (Forrest), Jeanne (Steve), and Rick (Holly); her grandchildren, Jennifer (John Gattis) & Emily (Clifford Nichols); Kristi (Daniel Curling) & Michael; Garrett (Amy) & Lindsey; and her four great grandchildren Ryan & Reece Curling and Ava & Eliza Nichols. Meme was the warm heart at the center of this family. will carry in their hearts the abundant love she gave through her special parties, delicious meals, and soft hugs; they will treasure countless memories of the joyful family vacations, cruises and gatherings that she and Truman hosted. Marguerite was grateful that she was able to live in her home until the time of her passing. Her family wishes to thank the compassionate care she received from Professional takers, including Willetta Williams, Georgia Daniels, Emma Locke, Carol Stogsdill, Triena Darden, and Margaret White. The family is also grateful for the outstanding medical care provided by John Demopulos, MD; Blair Conner, MD; Baylor House Calls, including Nurse Practitioner Kathy Kinnaman and Jennifer Heffernan, MD; VITAS, VNA, and Altus Hospice Services, and most recently, Kathy Meyer, RN, who braved the icy roads to help during Marguerites final hours. The family especially thanks dear and faithful friends Jolene Marcos, Barbara Packer, and Wilma Hatfield. Their visits kept Marguerite connected to her church family long after she could no longer attend.
